Formed in 1975 in Melbourne, Australia, Little River Band is celebrating 29 years of making music that has included 10 top-10 hits in the U.S. The band’s 14 albums, with total sales exceeding 25 million units, have included such hits as Lonesome Loser, Lady, Cool Change, and Reminiscing. Tickets for Little River Band range from $15 to $25 and are on sale now. Show time is 8 p.m. both nights. Since capturing the crown, last year’s winner and the very first Miss Native American Oregon, Apollonia Lane, has had a busy year. She has spoken on tobacco prevention (her forum) to local elementary schoolchildren, in Boston at the National Conference on Tobacco and Health, and before the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Minneapolis/St. Paul. During this time, she’s been studying human services with a focus on addiction studies at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Ore. Apollonia is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon. Many young women dream of scholarships to help pay for college. Every year, the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program offers to its contestants more than $ 100,000 in cash and in-kind tuition scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to any competitor, not just the ultimate titleholder.
