Renee Metcalf Manages Bingo Siletz Tribal member Renee Metcalf, employed by Chinook Winds Casino as the interim assistant Bingo manager, has overseen the operation of the Bingo program since October 2000. Over the past 11 years, she has worked for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in numerous capacities, including Siletz Tribal administration and the Siletz Tribal Smokehouse. She started working for Chinook Winds in the temporary facility in January 1996. Formerly a member of the Human Resources Department, Metcalf has established herself as a people person, becoming a friendly face and a person that Chinook Winds' guests enjoy coming into contact with. As a Siletz Tribal member, Metcalf stated, “I have been given an excellent opportunity to grow and truly feel that I am accomplishing major life goals. My experiences are a great example of tribal enterprises and the direct positive Renee Metcalf impacts they can have on tribal membership, when given the chance.” In the brief time that she has been managing the Bingo program, a number of exciting changes have taken place, including Las Vegas Style Bingo. Metcalf also is responsible for spearheading a Bingo food drive that collected food and toys to give nine families happy holidays this past winter, with plenty left over to donate to the women’s shelter. John Farrar Promoted to Security Director John G. Farrar has been promoted to security director. He has been affiliated with Chinook Winds since May 1995 and is an original employee of the casino. He first was employed by the casino as a security supervisor and later as the security manager before being promoted to security director. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1992, Farrar worked at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He relocated to Oregon in 1994 so he could “make wind chimes and walk on the beach.” “My retirement only lasted about 45 days. I’ve worked since I was 11 years old and had too much time on my hands,” John commented. He went back to work as a plant manager for a local manufacturing plant and then for a local bank before being hired by Chinook Winds in 1995.
