discrimination in the work force, employ­
ment discrimination litigation and affirma­
tive action in education. Maxine S. Thomas,
Assistant Dean at the University of Oregon
School of Law and affirmative action liaison
officer, will deliver a keynote address at
noon.
The conference will begin at 9 a.m. and
continue until 5 p.m. Registration will begin
at 8:30 a.m. A $10 fee will be charged to
members of the Bar and $2 donations will
be requested from others. Child care will be
provided.
The conference is sponsored by the Law
School Chapter of the National Lawyers
Guild, the Minority Law Students Associ-
ation. the Womens Caucus and the Law
Student Division of the American Bar Associ­
ation.

Faulk, a graduate of Estacada High School,
entered the Army last year after taking one
year of the college's two year program. In a
recent letter to Norm Herman, video in­
structor at CCC, Faulk credited his new
assignment to the background training he
received at the college.
Faulk is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.E.
Faulk of Redland.

Low income families who file a 1976
Federal income tax return may be eligible
to receive a special payment of up to $400
from the federal government.
To qualify for the credit, taxpayers must
have less than $8,000 in total income, in­
cluding income from wages, salaries, tips
or other employee compensation and self­
employment income.
They must also have maintained a home
in the United States for the entire year for
themselves and at least one of their children
who was under 19 years of age or a full-
time student, or a disabled dependent child
over 19.
Qualified persons with earnings of $4,000
or less receive a credit of 10 per cent of
their income only, up to a maximum of
$400. Those with total income of between
$4,000 and $8,000 are also entitled to the
credit based on earned income, but the
amount of credit decreases $1 for every
$10 of income over $4,000.

Jerry Juve is an Instructor in Parent Effec­
tiveness Training with Effectiveness Training
Associates, and is a therapist at McLoughlin
Mental Health Center. He has completed
two years of training in advanced family
therapy and is currently taking advanced
training in P.E.T. Mr. Juve has worked with
parents and children in residential treatment
centers, emergency services, drop-in centers
as well as in an out-patient setting.
P.E.T. class size is limited to 20 people.

The tuition charge of $45 per individual
and $60 per couple covers the 20 hours of
instruction and includes a soft cover work­
book and a new textbook entitled Parent
Effectiveness Training written by Dr. Thomas
Gordon. Units of graduate or under-graduate
credit are available through Portland State
University at the cost of $39 for three units
of credit.
