WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY It, IMS. ilOIKE Of UEdlOII " The voting i-laces, Judges and clerks for the city election of La Grande, to be held the Ith of March, are an nounced In an official notice else where In this evening's Observer. At the lest council meeting the ward polls and election officers were chosen. In the first ward. South La1 Grande, the ballots will be cast In the city hall, and the judges selected are J. P. Clark and E. C. Davis. The clerks for that' ward are D. E. Cox and Arthur Curtis. In the second ward. East La Grande, the council rooms will be devoted to poll purposes, and the judges are H. W. Stoner, David Bay and , George Ball. Clerks In this ward are H. E. Coolldge and A. W. Nelson. The Third ward, West La Grande, will vote in the South M. E. church parsonage, with B. W. Grandy and R. L. Lincoln as Judges. R. W, Logan 94 r- Hamilton are clerks. In the Fourth ward. North La Grande, the Harris building on Fir street will be used and the Judges are to be B. Logsdon. Wm. Thommon and G. E. Fowler. The clerks are C. G. Cummins and A. Thomas. REFORM LEAGUE MEETS. Baker City Ministers Received Anony mous Letters Recently. The clvlo reform league met in the Methodist Church Sundav afternnnn with a very large attendance and added 21 new members to their list ot membership, says the Baker City Democrat- The membership now numbers 100. There were several very Interesting speeches and the cli max was reached when Dr. Hayden announced two anonymous letters, nne of a threatening character and the other couched In language unfit for the press. No fear need be an ticipated from these letters, but It Is unpleasant to receive them. If it is the purpose of the sender to defeat any of the work now being under taken by the league he has simply in tensified the seal of the league to re store municipal purity In Baker City.
