I The big union meeting closed Sun day night at the M. E. church. Next Sunday will be a great day at the five churches which were united In this meeting. Baptismar services will precede the reception of members at the First M. E. church, the Baptist church and the Tresbyterlan church. The results, which will be evident next Sunday at these various churches will be a surprise to all. All these churches are going to make Wednesday night a great time In revival and praise services and In meeting the new members for the first ume since me union meeting closed. By actual count there have been 270 knelt at the altar of prayer asking forgiveness and declaring that they would henceforth lead a Chris tian life trying to please God In all their lives. These have signed for some church, and will be received at once. . The First M. E. church will ar range for a service of baptism for those who desire to be Immersed, at the river on Sunday afternoon with choir accompaniment. It was declared the last night that fully ISO had been reclaimed beside the 270 conversions. The uplift given to all the churches In the union cannot be estimated. All sought a new life In Christ. The duty and privilege of Bible study and dally feeding upon It In a devotional Instead of a disputing way has been urged right along, and there will be a great advance In real Bible study. The union spirit of each church helping every other church and walking In love and good will, each one preferring the other, was empha sized, the evangelist declaring over nd over again that by practical and open examDle the eh..rr.h. nt aieton nave proven that united for a great work like That an ounce of example Is worth a ton of profession. The morning and evening sermons yesterday were very Impressive. Mr. Haudenschleld proved that the only reason why he preaches so much about the dark side Is because of the necessity of doing that. He can preach magnificently upon the other side. Many tears trickled down countless faces while he held up the heart-cry for God and what it all means to the soul. i Financially everything has been met and all seem happy to know that ; Pendleton did better than Eugene In this matter. ' Mr. Haudenschleld has no stated salary. He goes out Into the field to work and heaeceDts th tree win offer In of ih. people. ;UUIIUttUUUUUtUt44444 t . 'There cannot be any objection in the least to any one giving whatever he may desire. No one is constrained to give anything. It is all voluntary and while some who have been wonderful ly blessed gave according to their de sires and everybody seemed very well satisfied. This work leaves all the churches closer In fellowship, and with the fact that the greatest meeting In the history of Pendleton has tome to this place. It will be much easier In the future to hold successful meetings of this Mr. Haudenschleld goes from hem to Nam pa, where he holds a union meeting of six churches, then to Pay ette, and after that to Welser, and then to La Grande.
