Schumann Johnston, an accomplished violinist, with a class of students here, but whose home is in Tacoma, Wash, went suddenly, insane today while on a visit to Canta Ynex. He ran down the road discarding his clothing and was not captured until lassoed a couple of mounted men. He was '.hen shut up In a rickety calaboose that he soon kicked down and escaped to the hills, where he was again cap tured by mounted men and brought to this city for' medical care. Paul Reaclic La Grande From Aurolla Mine Country Today and Brings Some Valuable Ore Samples Taken From Surface of Tunnel and Runs In Paying Quan tities Several Month of Winter Be fore the Miners Yet. Bringing with him samples of silver ore taken from the Aurella group of mines up the river, Supt, A. M. Paul reached La Grande today noon. The ore He on the face of the tunnel In a stratum of three feet thickness. It contains about 2500 ounces of silver to the ton. Mr. Paul reports that five feet of snow covers the ground at the region of the mines and that it Is still mow ing. There is little hope of it thaw at that altitude for several months yet Mr. Paul will remain In La Grande a few days before returning to the mines with provisions. Jap Marries Paleface. Vancouver, Wash., Feb. 18. Klnta ro Tanaka, a subject of the mikado of Japan, and Anna Bcggman, an 18- year-old girl, who states that her home Is In San Jose, California, were granted a marriage license here today by the county clerk. Th equipment of the factory Is such that the product of 1600 acres can be han dled with ease, aside from, the crop of the company's fields, which this year win total close to the 2500-ac mark.
