Jonas W. Dickey returned to his home in Baker county this morning. He came down yesterday. District Attorney Ivanhoe and Attorney C. H. Crawford left this morning for El gin, where they have several suits dock eted. Arthur Leach, a member .if the 0. R. & N. engineering corps, who has made his headquarters in La Grande for sometime, left toddy for Baker Citv. H. Hana, official court reporter for the tenth judicial district, left this morn ing for Elgin to referee the Dixon versus Dixon divorce trial. Reavis, of Enterprise, ar rived in the city last evening, and will after visiting his daughter-in-law a few days, continue on his annual tour visiting his sons and daughters at Hood River, Seattle, and Walla Walla. B 'Walker leaves this afternoon for Haines where he will take charge of a fawmill engine which is located at that place. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Prillaman and family are in the city today from Telo caset. en route to Portland where they will spend the winter. Mr. Prillaman was formerly section foreman of theTelocaset section. A sufficient number of councilmen to constitute a quorum failed to put in their acpearance last night and adjournment was taken until Monday night to consider the report of the Special Water Com mittee. A warrant is out for the arrest of Dan Philips, who is charged with unbecoming conduct. F. M. B. Bartimess is the com plaining witness. Philips has apparently made a sudden departure, at least the officers have not found him. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McDonald, and two children, Alexander and Lily, of Alicel, will arrive in the city this evening to be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Grant. In the morning the McDonald family leaves for Inverness. Scotland where Mrs. McDonald's relatives now re side. They will visit in old Scotland for three months. PROSSER'S BROTHER HERE John Prosser, a brother of Al Prosser, who was killed at Lime sidding Wednes day, arrived in the city this morning to accompany the remains of his brother to Clearwater, Nebraska, where interment will be made. NO SCHOOLS NEXT WEEK On account of the teachers' meeting at Pendleton early next week, there will be no schools in session in the city. Follow ing the Pendleton meetings is Thanks giving and consequently both events cotrv bine to make the entire week a vaca tion. EDWARDS ARRESTED Late last evening, E. J. Edwards, who yesterday morning assaulted Bert Hughes with a revolver, was arrested and logded in county jail. His preliminary hearing will not be given until to tomorrow some time as he is still under the influence of liquor. The complaint charges him with assault with intent to kill.
