Academ's purpose is to iden tify and foster human intel ligence for the betterment of humanity, encourage research in the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence and to provide a stimulating intellec tual and social environment for its members, he says Academ is different from other intellectual organizations, Cohen says "It is not dependent upon high grades or University invol vement,” he says. "It would at tract people who do not neces sarily get involved in school functions." To join Academ, a student must be in the top two percent of IQ scores in the area, which Cohen estimates to be 130. A SAT score of 1,250 or better is also acceptable "Probably 5 percent of the University would qualify for it,” Cohen says. "But I want to see how much interest there would be for it."
