Palace of Sweets Phone 1273 Order Delivered NEW MACHINE RECORDS VOICE. Will Receive and Give All Telephonic Communications. A wonderful Invention, complete nnd ready to put on the market, Is on exhibition at Marster s Drug Store It is called the telegraphone, and Ib the Invention of Valdlmlr Paulsen, of Deninurk. The machine Is a combination of the telephone and the phanogrnph, only the phonograph principle is en tirely new. The record, Instead of being tangibly made by the impres sion of a neddle on wax, is made by means of magnetism on steel. The vibrations of speech, which, traveling over a wire and reproduced In a re ceiver, and which make the tele phone possible, are In this case cunght and held on to a steel plate by magnetism. It is the discovery of the possi bility of the localization ot magnet Ism that made thiB possible. The re sult is that the phonographic record Is not on the surface of the plate, but Is a part of It, not to be eradi cated even with a file. Once made, all that is necessary is that a con luctor of magnetism should pass the plate and the vlnrations of the voice are reproduced. The voice, thus heard, has much more of the human quality than In the monograph. Ev ;iry shade of expression, each note of feeling is reproduced. But all that .a necessary to eradicate the spoken uossnge from the record Is to spenk another message on top of it. The last message wipes out, as It were, the first one and records Itself In the vacant place. .The distance at which this machine may be successfully operated Is lim ited only by the same limitations that affect the telephone. Attached to the telephone, It Is possible, with this lUachlne, that when a man Is out of his office, those calling'him up may leave their message, speaking It into the 'phone just as if he were there. When the man comes back he can pick up his receiver and hear one or a dozen messages that may have been left during his absence. . o TEA Moneyback means that the tea is good and well worth the money. A Perfectly Fitted Eicellently Made Faultlessly Stylish Fall Suit, for A Small Prica PTOMAINE POISONING. How to Prvnt It In Meat, Fish and Crabs. The reports of cases of ptomaine pol sontna from eating crabs Bhould b a warutug to housekeepers and cooks as to a!l kinds of ptumaulc daupera. A ptomaine Is not a microbe, but Is the product of a microbe, as all grain alco hol Is the product of fermentation, caused by the yeast microbe, which changes sugar Into alcohol. Alcohol Itself Is, therefore, a ptomaine, but as to Its poisonous effects oplulous will continue to differ. Vlucgar Is another ptomaine, the product of the microbe Mycoderma acete. This ptomnlne Is not dangerous when properly used. Hut there are many dungerous pto maines, the products of various putre fuctlve microbes. The microbes them selves may always be killed by boil ing, but ptomaines may not be so killed, as boiled alcohol Is still alcohol. The only sure way, says the Baltimore American, to prevent ptomaine poison ing In meat, fish, crabs or nuy other article of diet Is to kill the microbes pnd thus prevent the production of ptomaine. CrabB aro not healthy unless killed by severe nnd suddeu beat, ns by being thrown nltve Into boiling water. This practice, nppears to be cruel, but it Ik Just the contrary, as the hot wnter causes the crab to lose consciousness Instantly nnd Its Bufferlug ceases nt once. And any crab killed by boiling water can be eaten with perfect safety If crabs are kept six hours aftei boiling, they should be boiled again foi nt least a few moments, after which they may be kept safely for another six hours. Then they should be boiled again, for the samo reason as before to prevent the production of ptomaine It Is not sufo to keep crabs, fish, menb or any other cooked articles of food longer than six or eight hours withoin rebolllng, even If kept on Ice. Ice retards the work of microbes but does not kill the microbe or sto his work. In fact, unless the greati care is taken by the housekeeper Ice chest may become n most dungt': ows Incubator of mleroles. Water made boiling hot is man's be? defense against bis luuultcslmn! ml ofteu fatal enemy, since no mlcro'.w can survive contact with It. OPENING A BOOK. This city has been vIkIU'U by a series of incendiary llres which threaten the property of the citizens to such an extent that there are special patrol men employed and great effort is be ing made to locate or capture the firebugs. Tuesday night there were three llres, cue the old Kaull residence, un occupied, but a historic old build ing. It was furnished originally by Sloune, of New York. The loss was about $'i000. A few minutes Inter two barns wero burned nnd almost Immediately after the old creamery property went up In smoke. Yesterday and Inst night there were three more flres of Incendiary origin. The matter became so ser ious that Mayor Johns issued last evening the following proclamation; Malaria is due to impurities in the blood which destroy the rich, healthful qualities of the circulation, and reduce it to a weak, watery fluid. ' The body is then deprived of its necessary nourishment nnd strength, and is unable to resist the countless disorders that assail it, and the general system itiHera in consequence. The appetite fuils, digestion is weakened, chills md Blight fever are frequent, while the sufferer loses energy and ambition. Hoils, skin eruptions, nnd some times sores and ulcers follow when the Mood becomes deeply polluted with the malarial germs. Both a tonic ind blood purifier are needed to cure Malaria, and S. S. S. is best fitted for .his work. It is the most perfect of all blood purifiers and at the same time in invigorating, healthful tonic. S. S. S. goes down into the circulation, ind removes every trace of impurity or poison, and gives to the blood the lealth-sustainiiig qualities it needs. It cures Malaria thoroughly and per manently Iwcause it removes from the blood the germs and poisons which iroducc the disease, nnd while doing this tones up and strengthens every inrt of the system.
