Ho went partly for his health and partly to seo what thoro was In tho boom of which wo nre hearing so ranch. Ho had a very pleasant trip and a profitable one on both counts. Ho fcela bettor nnd has gained several pounds in weight, nnd ho hna satisfied himself thnt Salem Is good enough for htm. Whllo businces is good nt tho points nbovo named, it is being ovor-dono. Rents aro very high nnd still rising) both for businces nnd rcsidenco prop erty. Houses which would ront horo for $10 n month there bring (25 to $40. Mnny business locations can only bo rented f-om month to month, and nearly every month thoro Is n raise, Many people aro going, looking for work and for buslnoss locations. Mnny of the former are disappointed, as well as tho latter. There Is n good deal of building going on In Seattle, especially residences, mnny people from Alaska settling thero to make their homes. . Mr. Dabnoy saw but ono vacant build ing in Scattlo, and tho same in Spokano. In Spokano three or four fino busi ness blocks are going up. Thoro is a great mining country tributary to that city and Its growth is on a solid foundation. The Indications are that Jlin Hill will expend one to two millions In improve ments thero this year. At Dakcr City and Sumpter tho boom is built ton great extant on expectations. Thero aro somo gomo good solid paying mines there, and many others that glvo every indication of excellence but havo not been developed enough ,for a cer tainty. Mr. Dabnoy did not seo enough to justify tho boom which seems to bo pre vailing. He thinks It Is being over done. Tho winter nt Spokano and linker City hits been very mild, nnd thorn Is not much Janow In tho mountains. At SpoknnoMr. Dnbncy saw Boveral former Salcmltca. Frank Conovcr is thoro, working for Shaw A Uorden. Judge Gnrrltteon la in tho Insurance business. Geo. StovoiiH tho fruit dryor man, is thero nnd tho Hnrrilda aro con tracting and building. Chas.
