We all like to bo remembered, and ono of our misfortunes is that there are so many things wo cannot romom ber. MnomonicS, or the art of assisting memory, is au important art. It was First suggested by Simonldcs of Cos Ave hundred years beforo Christ. Persons who had but litfclo power to recall ovonts, or put facta and names and dates in proper processions have, through this art, had their memory re enforced to an almost incredible extent. A good memory is an invaluable posses sion. By all means cultlvato it. On tho other hand, yon can find horo and there n man or woman (for thero aro not many of thom) whose disposition is gonial and summery. Why? Havo thoy always been treated well? Oh, no. Hard things havo been said ngainst thom. Thoy havo been charged with offlclousness; and thoir generosities havo boon set down to a desiro for display, and they havo many a time been the subject of tittlo-tattlo, and they havo had onough small assaults like gnats and enough great attacks liko lions to have made thom porpotually mi&orablo, if they would havo consented to be mis erable. But thoy havo had onough dlvino phil osophy to cast off the annoyances, and thoy havo kept themselves in tho sun light of God's favor, and havo realized that these oppositions and hindrances aro a part of n mighty discipline, by which they aro to bo prepared for use fulness and heavon. Tho secret of it all is, thoy havo by tho help of tho eternal God learned how to forgot. FORGIVE AND FOROET. Another practical thought when our faults aro roponted of let them go out of mind. If God forgets thom, wo havo a right to forget them. Having once re pented of our infelicities and misde moanors, there is no need of our repent ing of them ngaiu. Supposo I owo you a largo sum of money, and you aro per suaded I am incapacitated to pay, and you givo mo acquittal from that obliga tion. You say: "I cancel that debt. All is right now. Start again." And tho next day I como in and say: "You know about that big debt I owed you. I havo como In to get you to let mo off. I feel so bad about It I cannot rest. Do lot mo off." Suppose that on tho last day called tho lust day because tho sun will never again riso upon our earth, tho earth itself being flung into fiery de molition supposing that on that last day a group of infernal spirits should somehow get near enough the gate of heaven and challengo our entrance, and say: "How canst thou, tho just Lord, let thoso souls Into the realm of supernal gladness? Why, thoy said a great many things they never ought to have said, and thoy did a great many things thoy ought nover to havo dono. Sinners ora they; sinners all." And Biippose God should deign to an swer, he might say: "Yes, but did not my only Son dio for their ransom? Did ho not pay tho price? Not one drop of blood was retained in his arteries, not ono nerve of his that was not wrung in tho torturo. Ho took in his own body and bouI all tho suffering that those sin ners deserve. Many years ngo a family, consisting of the husband and wifo and littlo girl of two years, lived far out in a cabin on n western prairie. Tho husband took a fow cattle to market. Before ho started his littlo child asked him to buy for her a doll and ho promised. Ho could after tho sale of tho cattlo purchase house hold necessities, and cortnlnly would not forgot tho doll ho had promised.
