Earl Boston retur ned this week from a short trip to Ashton where they took Mrs. Boston's mother, Mrs. Lucy Rogers, to attend the funeral of her brother, George Nedro. The Boston home was filled with guests Sunday as Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rogers, Nampa; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shippy and family of Weiser; Bettv Boston, Ontario; and John Boston and son John all visited during the day. Shelley Boston, granddau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston has recently been In the hospital but Is now recuperating at home. Mr. and Mrs. William Gregg of Santa Maria, Calif, spent the week in the Lloyd Dibble home. Tuesday Sue Dibble took the Greggs to Cambridge where they visited Hank Dibble and family and then went on to Weiser to visit with Mrs. Ann Hopper and her family. Friday afternoon Wait and Ann Hopper and family were in the Dibble home for supper and visiting with the Greggs who left Monday to return home by way of Washington. The sister of Mrs. Tom Ferguson, Helen Hatch, spent the night Saturday in the Ferguson home. Guests in the Clarence Fritts home this week were Mr. and Mrs. Don Somers of Nyssa who visited Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sells returned home last Tuesday from a trip to Gold Hill, Oregon where they attended a family reunion. John and Men Sells, son and daughter-in-law of the Ed Sells were visitors in their parents home Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday evening Meri's parents, the Lees, were added guests for a barbecue. Later they sho wed slides of John and Meri's wedding and recep tions including a reception held in California which the Ed Sells were unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sells had supper with Dave and Karen Sells of Meridian this week. Gerald Rathbun. Temple City. California nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Se ward arrived at the Seward home Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Topliff. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Warren of Parma were Sunday afternoon callers. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Topliff spent Friday evening in High Valley at her brother Wayne Warren's cabin. Mrs. Rollo Fenn called on Mrs. Mary McConnell in Nyssa Saturday. Emma Scha fer of Nampa was visiting her. They were luncheon guests in the McConnell home. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simpson and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Galyen and baby of Ontario went camping by McCall on Hazard Lake Friday. They returned home Sunday eve ning. Miss Andrea Hanson of Ontario came Wednesday and visited with Terri Hill until Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hanson and Mark. Janel of Ontario were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Hill and Terri. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hill joined the group later for cake and ice cream. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holdt and family of Vancouver. Wash., came Saturday to visit her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson and other relatives. Mrs. Ray Simpson. Mrs. Alfred Simpson, Mrs. Carl Fenn, Mrs. Gene Simpson and Cindy attended a Tupper- wear party Friday at the home of Mrs. Karen York in Vale. Mrs. Leon Chamberlain and Mrs. John Fahrenbruch called on Mrs. Dale Witt in Nyssa Friday afternoon. Johnnie Simpson called on his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Simpson Saturday evening. Mrs. Claude Gerlach of Springfield, Oregon visited and the Hugh Pierce resi dence in Boise. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wild and Ge rald Rathbun were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Burton (Shir lee) Smith for a barbecue and homemade ice cream. I News From Big Bend I I a, »■>■*■ I BIG BEND * Sorry folks, no news for two weeks from Big Bend. My forced vacation ended last Tuesday after spending eight days in Boise, sis of them at St. Luke's Hospital for tests and z-rays. Mr. and Mrs. Don Beu- quest and family of Dallas, Tezas visited Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Van DeWater over the 4th of July weekend. Kelly Allsop left Friday, July 8 for Fairbanks, Alaska to visit her father Richard Allsop and family. The Adrian High School Class of 1959 held their reunion the weekend of the 4th. Former residents coming were Leonard Wood, Kay Cleverly, Jim Thompson and Philip Hatch. Mike Sillonis and Alan Bennett were also members of that class. Charles Witty returned home July 6 from Ulysses, Kansas where he had been visiting his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Gillen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Chaney and Judy visited Mrs. Ruth Bishop Ross and Deanna Chaney in Eugene last weekend. Marvin Coons and daugh ter, Angela of Kansas City, Missouri visited his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seueli last week. Mr. and Mrs. Marion English of Nampa called on Mr. and Mrs. Darrell English Wednesday evening. Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth Torrance and children of Montreal, Canada recently visited Mrs. Charles Witty. Dr Torrance »nd Johnny Witty were roommates at Cornell University in ithica. New York. Mrs. Don Cone of Roswell and her daughter, Cynthia Johnson of Florida visited Mr. and Mrs. Stan Thomas Tuesday evening. Mrs. Earl Bowman and family of Parma visited Mrs. Don Roberts Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Randy York, Sheri and Shane visited Mrs. Chuck Sykes and Lisa Tues day afternoon. Nancy is now living near New Plymouth. her cousin, Mrs. Gerrit Timmerman Saturday after noon. She ia spending the weekend in Nyssa where they are attending her class reunion banquet and picnic. Mrs. Ida Fenn was a Sunday dinner guest of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Simpson. Dave Savage was a afternoon caller. Jeannette Martin of Clarks ton, Washington came Thurs* day morning to spend the weekend with Mrs. Bill Toomb and to attend the class reunion of five classes at the Nyssa High School. Mrs. Bill Toomb, her sister. Jeannette Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer, attended the banquet at East Side Cafe in Ontario. Satur day evening. Miss Jeannette Martin and Mrs. Bill Toomb attended the picnic at the Nyssa Park Sunday. Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer. Miss Jean nette Martin and Mrs. Bill Toomb attended a hambur- ber fry at the Jerry Freitag home in Nyssa celebrating the birthdays of Mrs. Bill Toomb and Miss Jeannette Martin. Mrs. Bill Toomb and Miss Jeannette Martin were Thurs day evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Phifer. Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Klaas Lean accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ray Laan and Pete to Boise airport where they saw Mrs. Lean's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Case Fisher of Parma off on a trip to Holland. Mr. and Mrs. Herchel Thompson attended the class reunion in Nyssa over the weekend. They had registra tion at the Nyssa Park Friday, and attended the dinner on Saturday evening and the picnic on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Thomp son and family of Roseville, Calif, came Friday evening to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Thompson. Mrs. Herschel Thompson entertained with a dinner Sunday. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Thompson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rez Walters of Boise, Ethel Thompson of Nyssa and Mr. and Mrs. Garry Thompson and family of Boise. about the years when the Kramers lived in our com munity. A birthday dinner was held at the Harmon Potter home on Sunday, to help Eva Frank celebrate her birthday. Calif, where she bad an eztended visit with Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Hancock. The plane was one hour and 45 minutes late. They had engine trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rhodes and two boys of Parma and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and two boys went to the Owyhee Lake Saturday. They did some boating and water skiing. They saw Mr. and Mrs. Jim Webster of Ontario who were there for the weekend. They are former residents of Adrian. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Robb and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Breshears went to Wallowa Lake Wednesday while there they took a plane flight over Hells Canyon and over the lakes. It was really beautiful. They saw several large herds of elk. They returned home on Saturday. Mrs. Paul Gehrke went on a picnic at the Owyhee Lake Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rhodes and family. Also at the picnic were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rhodes and family of Parma. Those coming in the afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Tooley of Parma and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rhodes of Los Angeles. Aimai Unun youngsters enjoyea a visit Thursday evening from their aunt and uncle, the Fred Vaillancourts from Spring field, who had stopped to spend the night in Vale. played the music for the dancing at the reunion. The Tuckers had their records on sale, that they had recorded this spring. Janice (Mikkel- son) Parkinson from Alta, Calif, also came for the reunion and spent some time with her parents, the Ray Mikkelsons. The Bob Carrier family, and Jeannie Potter and BUSINESS DIRECTORYi Willow Geek ing at the Sam Stumps recently was their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gordon from Salem. Visiting the Stumps on Saturday was their two granddaughters, Mrs. Keith Jensen, Mrs. Kenneth Glenn and two youngsters from Baker. On Sunday their grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Chastain from Baker and the Bill Chastains and Dennis from Baker were at Capt. Ronald Still, his wife and daughter from Portland were recent visitors of his mother Mrs. Marion Tucker. Ron graduated from Vale High in 1950, is now with the Bureau of Police-Commander Detective Division. The Tom Tucker family of Parma also visited at the Tuckers. Sharon Curl and sons Ron and Randy from Portland and Bessie Oling of Portland visited with Eulalia Curl from July 2 to July 7. Bessie is Eulalia's niece. The Darrel Curl family from Whittier, California arrived on July 6, for a couple weeks vacation. Several fishing trips had been planned, if they could just find a good fishing spot. The Dale Franks from Boise came over for the 20 year class reunion that was held Saturday evening, July 9. at the Parrish Hall in Vale. Others coming for the re union that had attended grade school at Willowcreek, were Joe Stan from Boise and Deanna (Marz) Bates from Burns. Eva Frank, Joe Stan and Deanna Bates had gone all through grade school and high school together. Peggy (McCloughan) Tucker and the Tucker Orchestra Holmes received the honor of attaining the office of Guide of the Grand Bethel of Job's Daughters for the State of Oregon at the recent Grand Session in Salem. Jackie Chadwick, right, proudly displays the silver bowl she was awarded for her peom. "What Jobies Means To Me.” This is the 'Best 6th Messenger' award, and was also presented at Grand Session. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Chadwick. the Stumps. Dennis will spend the week here. The Stumps are enjoying a new carpet, that was a gift from their families. It was an old-time bam dance on Friday evening, to help Jill Hammerle celebrate her 13th birthday. The party was held in the Hammerle's bam, with about 20 friends coming for pizza, birthday and dancing. Dave Wilcoz and family from Eugene were visitors at his brother, Joe Wilcoz’» home last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kra mer and family from Caldwell spent Saturday at the Har mon Potter home. Later in the afternoon. Gene's bro ther David and friend from La Grande stopped by.
