Oregon Sam Cleavers Honored Social Scene PTA Convention Needs Delegates PTA Region-8 Vice-pre sident Virginia Cleaver, is urging all local PTA units to send their delegate* to the State PTA Convention in Portland. April 20-22. She states. "This area will host the 19’8 State Conven tion at the Tapedera in Ontario and if all the local delegate* will attend state convention and learn what is planned on the upcoming agenda, planning for our turn at convention will be easier and a guaranteed success." SAM CLEAVER RECEIVED many lovely gifts and congratulations at the open house wedding reception held in their honor at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cleaver were honored with an open house wedding reception at the home of his parent’s Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cleaver. Thursday. March 25. The young couple was married in Winnemucca. Nevada. Wed nesday. February 11. Special guests for the occasion were her parents. Mr and Mrs. Dennis Peter son of Port Orchard. Wash ington and her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Banks Wilbum of Ontario and Mr and Mrs. Joe Peterson of Weiser; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Orr of Nyssa. Everyone enjoyed the beau tiful three-tiered wedding cake decorated with yellow flowers and topped with a miniature bride and groom. Mrs. Peterson, mother of the bride, baked and decorated the cake. Dale Witt Mr. and Mrs. Bill Webb left Tuesday, March 16 with their trailer, going to Death Valley and on to Boulder Chy where they visited Bill's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Max Walhman. Another sister. Hazel Fritz of Oklahoma Chy was also there. They took the Webbs to see the Valley of Fire in the Nevada State Park. There they saw the red rocks, petrified rocks and the Indian writings on the wall and enjoyed a picnic at the Seven Sisters. They stayed three days with the Walhmans and started toward Yasemine Park, the road was closed . so they went to Bishop. California and came over several summhs that were over 8.000 feet high. The * ind was blowing hard They found a trailer court at Carson City. The winds were 140 miles an hour there, the wind turned and missed them just before they arrived. It did a lot of damage to boats and trailers in Carson City. They were on Highway 395 which said no trailers allowed h froze ice that night. After the windstorm they drove to Lake Tahoe. It was a ten mile climb and was closed to all activity. The mountains were covered with snow. They came home through Winne mucca The trailer camp at Jordan Valley was closed so they came on home arriving here Sunday morning, March 28. LEGION NEWS The Legion and Auxiliary will hold their annual pan cake supper at the Eagles Hall. Thursday. April 1 at 7 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring their own table service. Fashion Slunv And Liiiiclieon Alpha Upsilon Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi in Parma. Idaho invites the public to their annual fashion show and luncheon. Patrons are invited to stay afterwards and play cards if they desire. The fashion show w ill take place at the Rosw ell Elemen tary School on Saturday. April 3 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale from members or at the door for $2.25. This is a charity event and proceeds will be donated to help decorate the new city hall building in Parma. Christian Women Slate Brunch The Treasure Valley Chris tian Women's Club will meet at the Charoláis Restaurant in Ontario for brunch on Wednesday. April 7 at 9:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be Virginia Womack, author of the book "Test by Fire.” Gals Friday, will present a Bicentennial song fest. All Star Bowlers Hold Banquet Masonic and Eastern Star bowling teams, the All Star, finished their season Sunday, March 28. A social hour at the home of Roy and Marie Holmes preceded the ban quet held at the Twilight Cafe. Following the banquet, prizes were awarded. They visited their son, Ensign Keith Oidemeyer, aboard the USS ENTER- PRISE at Alameda and toured the giant nuclear carrier, They then drove down Coast Highway through Monterey, and stop ped at San Simeon and visited the Hearst Castle. In Los Angeles they visited Marineland, Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland and other sights before returning home. ... Colleen Brown of Portland started her Spring vacation with a March 20 visit to the home of her parents and brother. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Brown and Tim. She teaches school at the Floyd Light Junior High School in Port land On Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Brown and Eugene Brown of Burns took Colleen home. They visited and enjoyed smelt fishing on the Sandy River, returning home on Friday. Patty and Sherrie Flathers of Burns spent the weekend visiting at the Brown home upon their return. Eugene returned to Burns with them on Sunday. AKH EXTENSION MEETS The AKH Home Extension Study Group met Thursday March 25 with Mr*. Mary Laan of Kingman Kolony. Twelve ladies were present. The lesson was “Selection and Use of Over-the-Coun- ter Generic Drugs." Many of the group brought containers which had contained nonpre scription drugs. Mrs. Frances Freel, presi dent, had charge of the meeting. Mrs. Eleanor Tup lift and Mrs. Marie Moore had the lesson which in cluded articles read about the misuse of drugs. The group was told to ask their doctor what nonprescription drugs to use, reading al) the information on the bottle before taking the drug. Some medicines advise not driving your car after taking a certain drug. Some kind* affect your heart, ask your doctor what is best for you Plans were made to attend the Homemakers Day to be held May 1, at the Commer cial Building at the Fair grounds in Ontario. The ladies had brought articles to be sold and the money to be used on a 4-H Scholarship. Mary Laan was the auctioneer. Over $22.00 was taken in for the scholarship. Meeting ad journed.
