They also vi sited Bob Webster of Adrian who was in the Holy Rosary Hospital, during the bomb scare. He is home now and reported doing well. ♦ ♦ ♦ Mrs. Jim Cook, Jimmy, Mary Sue and Mark of Sweet Home, Oregon spent June 27 visiting Mrs. Angie Cook. ♦ ♦ * This is all that remains of a pick-up truck that was struck by a train about 4 a m. last Thursday. LeRoy S. McLay, 41, Nyssa, was driving the pick-up owned by Albertson Farms. He missed the crossing on Chestnut and the front wheels went across the rails, with the rear wheels stuck on the shoulder. McLay saw the train coming and got out Oregon Counties Show High er Death Rate Half of Oregon’s counties have higher traffic death tolls this year than last year, sho ving the state’s death count for the first six months to 340-- an increase of 18 per cent over the same period last year. The count also is running nearly eight per cent above 1969, the year Oregon recorded its all-time high toll of 713, according to the Oregon Motor Vehicles Division. The counties recording in creases so far this year are Columbia, Crook, Curry, De schutes, Gilliam, Hood River, Jackson, Klamath, Lake, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Malheur, Mult nomah, Polk, Umatilla, Wasco and Yamhill. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sillonis of Ashland spent the weekend with relatives here. They are being transferred to North Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Roberts, Russ, Brad, and Nancy Roberts attended the Roberts-Alsop wedding Saturday afternoon in Nampa. After a short business ses sion, Mrs. Darwin Jensen showed slides of the ancient ruins in Mexico, where she and her husband visited in their private plane. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rosen baum of Portland have recently moved into the ClarenceCassel place adjoining the Willis Co nant farm. Mr. and Mrs. DeGood of Ari zona have moved into the Keith Kygar home for the summer. Mrs. DeGood is a sister of Earl Kygar. Mr. and Mrs. CharlesConant and family are visiting friends and relatives in Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Herring of Pasco returned to their home Thursday after visiting in the Myron Osborn home. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Osborn and family were Sunday eve ning dinner guests of his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kear- ley in Emmett. Myron’s uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Erve Kear- ley of California were also guests. Jimmie Nedrow was a guest of Andy Peutz and accompanied the family Sunday morning to their summer cabin at McCall. They will return Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nedrow left Monday morning for Unity to do some fishing. While there they will be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Buker. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Simp son and family of Los Angeles are visiting her aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Campbell. They are also visiting relatives in Cald well.
