Favorite Foods FROZEN FRUIT '‘JAMS’’ Prepare fruit by mashing very fine or putting through sieve. Measure fruit and add sugar; let stand about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir 1 package powdered pectin into 1 cup water, bring to aboil and boil rapidly for one minute stirring constantly. (To use li quid pectin, omit the powdered pectin and water, and use 1/2 cup of liquid pectin. No cooking necessary.) Remove from heat and add the fruit, stirring for about two minutes. Pour into freezer containers. Cover and let stand at room temperature until jelled. Seal and freeze. Bouquets of flowers and crepe paper strea mers of lavender and yellow, and white added to the garden decor. The Rev. Bill Lowrance, Baptist minister of Nyssa, of ficiated at the 8 p.m. ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther McClana han of Gulfport. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mancel Bishop of Route 2 Nyssa. The bride wore a white street-length dress designed with an empire waistline and long sleeves. Lavender floral trim enhanced the bodice. She carried a bridal bouquet of yellow roses. Bridesmaid was Sally Sams of John Day. She was attired in a yellow street-length dress, accented with pink floral trim. Attending the bridegroom was his brother Bill Bishop. They visited Mrs. Clarence Price at Portland, Mrs. Everett Barrett at Long view, and Mr. and Mrs. Ge rald Fritts at Ilwaco. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morgan and children returned Thursday from a week at New Meadows. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Con ley Wilson at Pinehurst while they were up in that vicinity. Mrs. Helen Wilson and dau ghter Marilu spent the holi day weekend at their cabin in New Meadows. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Schultz left June 27 for Santa Rosa, California where they will lie making their home. The Robert Theil family have moved into the Schultz home. The Ray Hittie family have purchased the Virgil Cash home and moved the past week. The Cash family bought a home near Anderson Corner Store. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Little and children from Kelly, Wyoming are visiting in the Robert Pearcy home. Mrs. Little is Mrs. Pearcy’s niece. Some think they trace their name to the straw that was placed between the rows of ? berries in order to keep them clean and protect the plants. This would have been useful last week when we had our flash floods. Strawberries are high in Vi tamin C. They’re delicious to taste and easy to prepare, as indicated by this recipe. berries or 3 10-oz. packages frozen strawberries (thawed and drained) 1/2 cup sliced walnuts or al monds 1 1/2 cups heavy cream, whipped Spread half of crumbs in 12x9x2 inch pan. With elec tric mixer at medium speed, cream butter with sugar and extracts. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat egg whites until stiff STRAWBERRY DELIGHT but not dry; fold into butter mixture; drop over crumbs, 1 1/2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs making a think layer. Spoon 3/4 cup soft butter on a layer of berries; sprinkle 1 cup powdered sugar with nuts. Spread with whipped 1/4 teaspoon almond extract cream and sprinkle with re 1/2 teaspoon vanilla maining crumbs. Refrigerate 2 eggs, separated 24 hours. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Griffin, Tracy and Jeanne spent the 4th of July weekend at Baker with Mrs. Griffin’s family, the McGinns. They also attended Mrs. Griffin’s class reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Leeland Dewey and Nicole spent the weekend fishing at Cascade Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Garrison of Nyssa. Mr. and Mrs. John Lilly spent the weekend on the South Fork of the Boise River with John’s brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Bassford. Steve Kriegh took his grand mother, Mrs. John Stewart to her home in Buhl, Idaho Mon day. Frankie Worden went to Baker Saturday morning where she attended the funeral of her friend, Mrs. Edna Box.
