SMITH HONORED A potluck dinner was served Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Smith near Mitchell Butte. The occasion honored Mrs. Smith on her birthday anniver sary. Present for the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Ewen Chard, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McGinnis and Danny, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Chard of Caldwell and Mrs. Fred Bennett. The women are all sis ters of the honoree. Mr. Nye succumbed Sunday at Grangeville, Idaho, following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 29, 1885, in Kansas and on March 25, 1912, was married to Phoebe Winn at Pioche, Nev. The family moved to Nyssa in 1932. The deceased was a ditch rider for the reclamation bureau and also worked as a carpenter for the Heldt brothers while re siding here.
