I t seems in the best of health and can swim as good as the rest. COW HOLLOW By The Happy Farmer Tis Monday morning and the wa ter still is in the ditch. A week ago Sunday Earl Heaton and Chet Sage went up to see the big bad place In the canal. Most every one who goes to see it comes back with practically the same report “Tis a terrible sight to see.” Earl says that a place where they last spring could turn a dump truck around has slid o ff until now there Is barely room to get through with a truck. He says “ Chet went over it and out to see more but it looked to me like it was ready to go any minute so I never felt too safe. I wouldn't drive a truck over there for it and a $1000 in cash. Chet said he didn't think it would go for a while yet and he had gone up'to see it so he went over it more thoroughly. They talked to one workman there and he said he didn’t see how they could possibly hold it any longer. Another workman said, “ we have held it this long when it look ed impossible and was moving lots faster than now, I don’t see why we can‘t continue to hold it.” Most everyone that seee it comes back with a tal of hopelessness. Earl says, “ here I am out here hoe ing the weeds out of this corn when the chances are I never will get any water for it.” Last Wednesday the higher recla mation officials from Nyssa, On tario and Boise went to look it over The place where Earl wouldn't drive a truck had slid until no one could put a truck over it. They were cut o ff until it loked like they could fight it no longer. They unanimous ly said that she was going out in spite o f all. The reclamation said "we will have a new canal in a week or ten days.” A little over half mile of canal to be built in six to ten days.
