NYSSA GATE CITY JOURNAL, THURSDAY, OCTOBER IB, 1988 Mew York. Mrs. Davie wae known here as Miss Marian Calwell who taught the primary grades in Wade school and boarded at the Phelan home. Case and Q arritt Muntjewerff left Sunday to spend a few days deer hunting. The parents of all the pupils of Wade school were honored guests at a dinner party held at Wade school Wednesday evening, when the children and teachers provided a delicious banquet and program in their honor. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Robertson of Parma were dinner guests in the Sweet home Wednesday. Lester French transacted business in Boise Thursday. Mrs R L Haworth and Phyllis spent Saturday in Nampa and Boise. The Bend Girl Scouts spent Sat- Saturday at the home of their lead er, Mrs. M. Judd at Newell Heights. Mr. and Mrs. Will Van de Water of Wilder and Miss Lucille Rhine- hart and Grant Rinehart of Nyssa were Sunday guests in the Haworth home. Mrs. R. L. Haworth attended a dinner party at the home of Mrs. Don Tolmie in Parma Tuesday eve ning at which all the lady teachers of Parma schools were entertained. Mrs. Taggart and son Max of Ontario spent Tuesday calling on friends and getting acquainted with voters in the Bend. BIG BEND A stork shower at which Mrs. feunnell is honored guest will be held at the home of Mrs. Elmer Eskew Tuesday. Will and Homer Brewer spent a couple of days hunting near Unity last week but returned without a deer. Friends and neighbors of Ernest and Vcman Parker enjoyed veni son dinners last week when they returned home Wednesday from their hunting trip to Ironside with a large deer. Mrs. Walter Bishop and . Cyrus were shopping in Nampa Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. B Q Roberts return ed home Tuesday from a ten day sight seeing trip along the coast of western Oregon and Washington. Mr. Roberts was enjoying a two weeks vacation from his work at the Nyssa CCC camp. John Samer and Charles Weir spent the past week in Portland a t tending the stock show and visit ing relatives. Jim Miller and William Holly of Adrian went to Boise Friday and brought home their Uncle, Arthur Holly form St. Luke’s hospital where he spent the past two weeks recovering from an operation for removal of a cataract. Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Phelan were visiting in Caldwell Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Plin Case went to Ontario Saturday to visit Mrs. Charles Marston who is a patient in the Holy Rosary hospital. Mrs N. S. Mrs. Clarence Strong is enlarg ing her strawberry patch. Chas Wyckoff and Mrs. Bratton called at the Webster home and got some red raspberry plants. Miss Helen Merrick called on Mira Noah Wednesday evening. A. A. Bratton has a squash that weighs 61 lbs. grown on new land. Joe White and his tractor has been playing the good Samaritan and coming to the rescue of water- emlon haulers lately. George Turner helped A. A. Brat ton with his hay Thursday and Friday. A. A. The farmers have been complain ing about price of crops and thought fruit cheap here. Chas Wyckoff re ceived a letter from his nephew in California and he says they receiv ed $7 per ton for their best peaches and $1.50 per ton for seconds. $12 per ton for apricots and cherries so low that they didn't pick them. Mr. Wyckoff left for Yakima, Wash.. Monday morning to visit his son Howard and family. We are hoping with the “Happy Farmer” that some thing can be done about our side roads. Mrs. Gerald Goodfellow and chil dren called at the Kesler home Sun day. Sheff White has been sick with a cold. Virgil Beslisle is putting up his last crop of hay and his stack sure If is al and mark. It was made with out a derrick. Farmers in Valley View are hop ing that the water will not be turn ed off before October 15 this year as it is needed in the fall planting. RIVERVIEW Mrs. Claude Blackburn and fam ily of Payette visited the Earl Black burn family Sunday afternoon. Miss Joanne Hibbert visited at the Osborne home on Monday. Mr. ana Mrs. Walter Thompson were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Nelson of Ore gon Slope on Sunday. The Gonasons have finished a fruit cellar on which they have been working. MAlan Webb of Nampa left Sat urday after a visit with his sister- in-law and family Mrs Tom Lyle Mrs Gonason visited last Thurs day with Mrs Martha McGinnis Herschel Clowers of Yakima, Wash, is expected to arrive soon at the George Clowers home to make a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Jones of Eu gene, Oregon, visited with the Vest family while on their way to Jordan Valley last Tuesday. Two dogs have been dlstroying chickens for some of the members of Rlverview district. Nine young ones were eaten at the Gonason home not long ago. They are in hopes that these dogs will be caught in the act soon. ADRIAN Mrs. Henry Hatch and son spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Thompson of Nyssa. On Sunday they were guests at the Earp home in Emmett. The Girl Scouts held their regu lar meeting Saturday afternoon with their leader Mrs. M. L. Judd of Newell Heights. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farnsworth spent Thursday in Marsing visiting a sister-in-law Mrs. Martin Larson. Mrs. Hinton and daughters spent Saturday evening with Mr Hinton at Rockville.
