Bill Nichols injured his back last week and is back in his body brace His back was broken several years ago in a fall Mrs Flo (Sells) Middendorf is spending a couple of weeks at the home of Mr and Mrs John Kudrna She plans to leave Thursday to make her home with her sister Mrs Nora McNichols at Tacoma. Sunday afternoon visitors at the Kudrna home were: her sister Mrs Mildred Hayes of Gaston and her daughter Mrs Ronald M artin and daughter Rhonda of Salem M r and Mrs Herm Dixon of North Bend. Wyo ming Curl started his truck driving while he was still in high school, hauling cattle from Paris, I l linois to Indianapolis. Indiana He was bom and grew up in Paris and graduated from Paris High School He married Betty, a hometown g irl, before moving to Vernonia in 1947 to help his uncle, Pete Brunsman in the hardw ard store, where he worked until '53 School buses was his next driving job, where he did four years Bob started driving for M ay flower in 1957, “ because,” he answered smiling, “ things were slow around here; I always wanted to drive and Mayflower was always advertising for d ri vers so I gave them a try .” After driving for three years he went into the grocery business which he worked at until '64 but he prefered driving so he returned to Mayflower where he has been ever since He averages 8 to 10 thousand miles a month this is about one and a half times across the states Out of the 90,000 miles a year about a third is logged for ' Tektronix moving their displays for the electronix shows There is regular truckers stops where they have lounges where they^can shower, clean up and just relax for a while Curl averages 500 miles a day and can Oregon Shares In Payments The State of Oregon w ill get S321J68 from Uncle Sam as its share of the money collected from the management of the national resource lands by the Bureau of Land Management This is in addition to the more than S47 m illion recently dis tributed to Oregon's 18 western counties from sale of O 4 C timber W C IRS HAM STEAMS KRAFT PROCESSED go for nearly 1,000 miles before fillin g up the two fuel tanks He stops and enjoys a ball game once in a while but for anything unusual there hasn’t been much He stops and helps people who may be in trouble and followed in the wake of a hurricane in Florida The traveling is a fam ily affair with all the members, his wife Betty and nine children.
