New Head Listed For LDS Church z presiding officer of the Vernonia branch, is Elder Axel C. Olson, of Vernonia. President Olson has been a member of the church for many years, and has been very active in the affairs of the branch since he moved here from Missis sippi seven years ago. He has not as yet chosen the two breth. ren who will act with him as his counselors in directing the al fairs of the branch, buf will do so in the near future. Elder Ol- son is well versed in the gospel, and will indeed be a credit to the branch and the community in his new capacity. Also of gregt interest to every one in the community is the an nouncement that one of the gen eral authorities of the church, Adam S. Bennion, will be present for an evening meeting at Seaside Chapel, commencing at 7 p m., Monday, June 6, 1955. Apostle Bennion is an outstanding speak er, and it will be a real privilege to hear from him at that time, The public is cordially invited to that meeting, as they are to all meetings of the Latter Day Saints. An event of interest to the Lat ter Day Saints in this area was the release with a vote of thanks for their labors in behalf of the Branch Vernonia Branch, of President Earl P. Genzer, of Bux- ton, and his two counselors, C. Raymond Christenson, and Al- fred L. Carlson, also of Buxton. This was accomplished at the regular quarterly conf?rence of the Pacific district of the church here in the northwestern states mission, at Seaside, Sunday, May 29, 1955. President Genz’r had served the branch in some capa city or other for the past 10 years and had acted as branch president for the past four. His efforts ar > much appreciated, and his release was granted with reluctance, but due to purchaes of a farm west of Banks, his membership f 41 within the jurisdiction of the branch at Hillsboro and he will transfer his membership there, Sustained to replace Elder Gen zer in the important calling of * G”*’ ' OF T O’ THE EAGLE, VERNONIA, ORF, •TT" CHARITY AND WISD< n It is not enough to d roi must do it in the rir t w V —J ’ n M cult How often it is d d wisely chantabl — d C-‘S without multiplying the s of evil. n —John r “Charity suffereth ng ana is kind,” but wisdom ni.
