Pea weevils have begun to em- -■vrge from their winter hibernation quarters reports Don Coin Wal ed. county extension agent. These adult weevils are the ones that need to be killed before they lay their eggs. Dusting the peas when the first pods appear provides effective control, but the dusting will need to br- repeated at 5 to 7 day in tervals until the peas are har- *<ided. Insecticides recommended .for dusting include a five per ient DDT dust, a three-quarters of one percent rotenone dust, or a five percent methoxychlor dust. The DDT is not recommended if the pea vines are to be fed to dairy cattle or livestock being finished for slaughter.
