6 Thursday, Septembèr Él, 1944 Vernonia Eagle Rain Launches Attack on Jeeps Those Who Are in It TRANSFERRED RIVERVIEW — George Wood, Sic, has been transferred from Memphis, Tenn, to a blimp base at Houma, La. where he drives a jeep all day to deliver bombs and ammunition to the boys who load the blimps. At the time he wrote, they were waiting for a Gulf hurricane to strike and had sent their best blimps 150 miles down the coast to a place of safety. George is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wood. GETS DISCHARGE KEASEY — Darrel DeVaney, who has been in the marines and has been stationed in Texas, re ceived a medical discharge and returned home Thurs. WINS HIGH RATING KEASEY — Lee Lindsley, who is in the marines at San Diego, has received second highest rat ing in sharp shooting. TRANSFERRED KEASEY — Vernon M. Filling station operators will have ten days, or through Octo ber 10, to turn them in to their supplier for gasoline or exchange them at their local ration board for ration checks. Distributors have until October 20 to deposit these coupons in their ration bank accounts. Holders of invalidated B-3 and C-3 coupons which were issued for use beyond September 30 may exchange them for valid coupons at their local board, Eggen said. His return is voluntary and if he does not want to ship out on the next voyage he is not compelled to do so.
