RIVERVIEW — George Wood,
Sic, has been transferred from
Memphis, Tenn, to a blimp base
at Houma, La. where he drives
a jeep all day to deliver bombs
and ammunition to the boys who
load the blimps. At the time he
wrote, they were waiting for a
Gulf hurricane to strike and had
sent their best blimps 150 miles
down the coast to a place of
safety. George is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Wood.

who has been in the marines and
has been stationed in Texas, re
ceived a medical discharge and
returned home Thurs.

Filling station operators will
have ten days, or through Octo
ber 10, to turn them in to their
supplier for gasoline or exchange
them at their local ration board
for ration checks. Distributors
have until October 20 to deposit
these coupons in their ration bank
accounts.
Holders of invalidated B-3 and
C-3 coupons which were issued
for use beyond September 30
may exchange them for valid
coupons at their local board,
Eggen said.

untary; they sign up for a trip
and are discharged at the end of
the trip. The period of time which
they have free is not a leave or
furlough. These periods vary in
time and depend upon when the
ship sails, bow much time the
individual person has accumulated
and his own wish to return. His
return is voluntary and if he
does not want to ship out on the
next voyage he is not compelled
to do so. Under hese circum
stances it would be impossible to
.interpret the merchant seaman as
