She had only fall clothes. OBITUARY ROSA L. TATRO. Mrs. Rosa L. Tatro passed away at the home of her son. Dr. Chas. E. Tatro at St. Helens on Sunday even ing, December 6, 1925. Rosa Lina Laphan was born in Wabaunsee county, Kansas, on Feb ruary 21. 1856, and grew to woman hood in Kansas, and was married to Mr. Holden at the age of 17 years. 1'rom this union one child survive. She was left a widow at the age of 19 years. In 1877 she was married to Frank F. Tatro. To this union four children were born, three of which survive her, besides 16 grand children and 3 great-grand children. The Children are M. P. Hoiden of Seaside, Dr. Chas. E. Tatro of St. Helens, W. D. Ttatro of Portland and Mrs. Viola Treharne of Vernonia. Mrs. Tatro has passed the last fourteen years of her life in Colum bia county. She has made her home in Vernonia fop the last four years. - -------- ♦---------- CHRISTMAS PARTY GIVEN One of the pretty events of the week, was the “at home” of Mrs. F. Hanson on Friday afternoon. Sound ing the first note of the holiday sea son. the home was decorated iir the Christmas colors for the occasion. Green fir boughs, red bow knots and Christmas bells being used to make a pretty setting. The program was in the Christmas spirit and thought. The first number of the program consisted of small talks in which everyone participated and the sing ing “The End of a Perfect Day” by Mrs. Mauj Scott was given wonder ful expression and much applauded. The next number a reading of a Christmas poem, savored of the comic and gave more than one side of the Christmas spirit, Mrs. D. L. Smith gave this reading which was very much appreciated. General dis cussion of the Christmas spirit fol lowed and this was led by Mrs. Sarah Spencer and Rave everyone a real thought of Christmas. “What is the Christmas spirit to me and per sonal Christmas stories” was respon ded to Mrs. Sarah Spencer. Mrs. Judd Greenman and Mrs. W. A. Har ris. This response was real and made one stop and think. “What is the Christmas Spirit to me?” Following was the contest of poems in which Mrs. E. Z. Brown won first honors, and after that came the reading of “Maud Muller” this old, always, new poem of John Greenleaf Whitter was read in a very pretty natural way by Mrs. El lis. The closing number on the pro gram was the singing of “Silver Threads Among the Gold,” by Mrs Scott, was much appreciated. The re freshments eonsited of punch and fruit cake and was in a very pretty manner.
