will move to town.
Ivan Donaldson is improving quite
fast and will be able to commence school
again next week.
Mrs. Hiner and«Mrs. Fred Christensen
were driving in this neighborhood last
Sunday.
Mrs Parkhurst had some work done
oil her homestead last week and she in­
tends putting out an orchard ami also
potatoes and other truck soon.
Charles Kunze has a donkey engine
cleaning up his land.
Frank Bester is putting pipes on his
bouse an<l fixing up in general, lie baa

Mrs Nelson returned home laut Sun-
day from Portland, where she has been

Prevailed la England.
The curious superstition that there Is
an ocean above the clouds is illus­
trated by the following strange story
by an old English writer: “One Sunday
the people of a certain village were
coming out of church on a thick,
cloudy day when they eaw the anchor
of a ship booked to one of the tomb­
stones, the cable, which was tightly
■tretebed. banging down from the air.
The people were astonished, and while
they were consulting about It suddenly
they saw the rope move as though
some one labored to pull up the an­
chor. The anchor, however, still held
fast by the stone, and a great noise
was heard in the air like the shouting
of sailors. Presently a sailor was seen
sliding down the cable for the purpose
of unfixing the anchor. When he had
Just loosened it the villagers seized
hold of him, and while in their bands
he quickly died, Just as though he had
been drowned.
“About an hour later the sailors
above, hearing no more of their com­
rade, cut the cable and sailed away. In.
memory of this extraordinary event
the people of the village made the

ed that these hinges “are still to be
seen there," a bit of evidence much
like Munchausen's rope wherewith he

There is another queer tale about
this aerial ocean. “A merchant of Bris­
tol,” It Is said, "set sail with his cargo
far Ireland. Some time after, while his
family were nt supper, a knife sudden­

ble. When the merchant returned and
saw the knife he declared it to he hi»
own and said that on such a day, at
such an hour, while sailing In au un­
known part of the sea. he dropped the
knife overboard, and the day and the
hour were found to be exactly the time
when It fell through the window.” All
of which was once Implicitly believed
by many and regarded as Incontrovert­
ible proof of the existence of a sea
above the sky. One Is at a loss to con­
jecture how that "unknown part of the
sea” connected with the rest of It. A
physical geography showing this would
be no small curiosity.

" Loro s Day,” or “ Sabbath ” If these
be true title«- for the first day ol the
week it would necessitate a change in
the day from Saturday, the day cum­
mended in the decalogue, to Sunday,
the fiist day of the week.
God's «ord predicts that a power

such a change.

testants agree that such a change haa
been made, which the following quota­
tions will prove.
