The 15-member committee advises the OHRC Senior Sci- entist on activities and func- tions related to the operation and maintenance of the OHRC. Committee members serve a three-year term and repre- sent federal and local govern- ments, conservation groups, sport fishing groups, the com- mercial fishing industry, tribes, resource producers (agricul- ture, timber and gravel), water- shed councils and education. Two members of the committee represent the public-at-large and four represent the scientif- ic community. Candidates must submit a letter of interest by Friday, March 30, specifying why the applicant is interested and pro- viding three references. ODFW and OSU representatives will make selections prior to April 15. The Committee will meet next on May 19 in Corvallis. The OHRC is a cooperative research project between ODFW and OSU. The center’s mission is to develop an under- standing of the mechanisms that may create differences be- tween hatchery and wild fish, and devise ways to reduce and manage the differences so hatcheries can be used respon- sibly in the conservation and management of native fish. Ted Kulongoski to the Search and Rescue Task Force (SAR). The task force will review state policies and identify possible solutions to ensure high levels of coordina- tion and communication be- tween agencies performing SAR activities. “I was pleased to be asked to serve on this important task force. Given the recent high profile searches in Oregon – some with profoundly sad out- comes – it’s appropriate that the Governor call for a compre- hensive review of all of our pro- cedures,” said Sen. Johnson. The Task Force intends to present recommendations to the Governor no later than March 31, 2007. The Task Force will meet several times in order to meet the Governor’s deadline. They will review Ore- gon SAR policies and “after-ac- MARCH 2007 T W T 1 8 7 6 13 14 15 20 21 22 27 28 29 F 2 9 16 23 30 S 3 10 17 24 31 S 1 8 15 22 29 M 2 9 16 23 30 APRIL 2007 T W T 3 4 5 10 11 12 17 18 19 24 25 26 F 6 13 20 27 S 7 14 21 28 tion” reports of specific search- es to prepare for their discus- sions. I hope to bring my unique aviation experience to the task force discussions.” “I commend Sen. Johnson for dedicating her time to serve on this important taskforce,” Gov. Kulongoski said. “Her leadership will be critical in de- veloping recommendations and ensuring the adoption of the panel’s recommendations” S M 6 13 20 27 7 14 21 28 MIST-BIRKENFELD M-BRFPD Board Business Mtg. 2nd Tuesday M-BRFPD Board Workshop 4th Tuesday M-B Ambulance Drill 1st & 2nd Thursdays M-B Fire Drill 1st & 2nd Wednesdays M-B Helping Circle 2nd Monday M-B SAR Drill 3rd Wednesday M-B Volunteer Assoc. 1st Tuesday Natal Grange 2nd Wednesday T.O.P.S.
