She started on July 27, 2004 and is available for appointments on Tuesdays. Brown worked on a project in Vernonia last spring to bring dental screenings and care to second and third graders. She worked with Dr. Scheuerman on that project, liked Vernonia and Vernonia Dental, and sent him a resume when she gradu- ated from hygienist school in June. A dental assistant for over 10 years, Brown wanted to be more involved in patient educa- tion, a service hygienists pro- vide but assistants do not. “I like to help people out,” Brown said. Currently living in St. He- lens, Brown expects the future holds a move to Vernonia for Thirteen businesses and the City of Vernonia were repre- sented at a free workshop on Customer Service that was pre- sented by the Vernonia Cham- ber of Commerce on Septem- ber 30 at the Scout Cabin in Vernonia. Carrie Straub of Resources For Success led the group of local business people who at- tended in identifying: • Who is the customer? • What do they expect? • What’s the most effective way to get customers? • What will bring the cus- tomer back? It sounds simple, but the an- swers that came out in the workshop appeared to help all the attendees to see new and better ways to improve their businesses through new ways to provide customer service.
