(CAT), has received an Oregon Community Devel opment Block Grant to provide loans for home repairs. $240,000 is available in the form of interest-free, deferred payment loans for qualified low-income households. CAT is currently seeking ap plicants from Columbia County. A qualified applicant must own and reside in the home to be re paired, and have low or moder ate income with maximum in come as in the table below: NO. IN HOME 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Permitted repairs may in clude plumbing, electrical, roof ing, weatherization, foundation, siding or painting, windows, fur nace and heating system, dry rot or septic and drainage sys tems. Repairs that are not permit ted include new construction, additions, furnishings, some appliances (i.e. new furnaces are permitted. Stoves, refriger ators, washers, dryers, etc. are not permitted), repairs on out buildings (structures not at tached to the home) and land- scaping and fencing. The loan amount is based on equity in the property, re pairs needed and funds avail able, with no interest and de ferred payment (no monthly payments) for 30 years, which can be renewed if you are still low income. The loan must be repaid in full when the property is sold, the title of the property changes by any means, the property is no longer the primary resi dence of the borrower or 30 years have elapsed (if not eligi- ble to extend the loan). In place of interest, a loan fee, based upon the amount of the loan, will be charged to each loan and paid at the time the loan is paid back. The loan fee schedule is as follows: LOAN AMOUNT $0-$1,999 $2,000-$3,999 $4,000-$5,999 $6,000-$7,999 $8,000-$9,999 $10,000-$11,999 $12,000-$13,999 INCOME $32,050 $36,600 $41,200 $45,750 $49,400 $53,100 $56,750 $60,400 Fair Board sets date for special Open House The Columbia County Fair Board will not hold its regularly scheduled meeting October 14, but will hold a Special Meet- ing/Open House/Social with the Friends of the Columbia Coun ty Fair on October 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the 4-H Building at the Fairgrounds. A brief business meeting will be followed by an Open House/ Social with the Friends of the Columbia County Fair. The Fair Board and the Friends of the Fair invite the public to stop in and join in to discuss ideas for the better ment of the fairgrounds. The Board is also asking for theme suggestions for the 2003 Columbia County Fair & Rodeo.
