This is imperative for some insurance car riers — many of them won’t cover the call unless it’s pre-approved. Questions? Talk to Sue or Jessie at 503-429-9191. Mammovan change: For this month only, the mammovan will be in Vernonia on Tuesday (instead of the usual Wednesday). The date is next Tuesday, March 26, and Sue reports that there are a couple of openings left. Next mammovan date is Wednes day, April 17. We’ve heard many positive comments about the convenience of having that service here. You may call the local clinic to schedule a mammogram. Rescued by loggers, injured owl is healthy and back in the wild This little screech owl is being returned to the forest after a lengthy stay at the Portland Audubon Society shelter. The dazed and unresponsive owl was found in late November by Mike Pihl, on the fender of a truck at a logging site on Old St. Helens Road. Pihl brought it to his office in Ver nonia, then Grant Rand took it to the Audubon Society. Three months lat er, the owl was healthy enough to return to the wild, so Rand brought it back to Vernonia and released it near where it had been found. After checking out the situation for a few minutes, the owl flew into the underbrush, then headed for the trees. S t . A ugustine (C anterbury ) E piscopal C hurch The Rev.
