The INDEPENDENT, July 5, 2001 Democratic meeting in Vernonia The Columbia County De m ocratic C entral C om m ittee will hold its quarterly meeting July 10 in Vernonia at the New Hong Kong Restaurant. The 7:00 p.m. meeting will be pre ceded by a no-host dinner at 6:30 p.m. Jim Hill, form er Oregon leg- islator and state treasurer, will be guest speaker. Hill is one of several Democrats who have announced their intention to run for governor. Several items are on the agenda, including event sched uling for the com ing year. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m., at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Fu neral Home, 741 Madison Av enue in Vernonia. Mr. Sutton’s sons-in-law, Jerry Bruce and Jerry Hayes, will officiate. Inter m ent will be at V ernonia Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invit ed to attend a reception at Lew’s Place, 934 Bridge Street, Vernonia, immediately follow ing the memorial service.
