Six years ago school district No. 1 of Klamath county, possessed only two school buildings of any conse quence, these being at Central and Riverside. Between The Pair and Looks Like Draw NEW YORK. Dec. 18. They say the first seven tight are the hard est If so Lou (Kid) Kaplan and Babe Herman have got through with the worst of their troubles. They met for the seventh time in ffelUlckard' new Madison Square, Garden Friday night, and Kaplan was awarded the Judge's decision after 15 rounds of fighting which did credit to neither fighter. There was little to choose be tween the pair, and no doubt the Judges, using the new "rounds won" system, were right In their the ' d00rg of the Ctntrai Saving verdict, although Herman by his bank Tney wlu be open agal aggressiveness and more effectively 6fl days for depositors, having work. at long range, seemeo 10 deserving or a draw. Most ot the tight found the box ers wrapped la each other's arms pounding away at cUse quarters and doing little damage. At the start ot the bout it looked as though Herman might win the title by virtue of his destructive punch ing, for he drew blood from the champion' ear, nose and mouth in quick succession. Bobbing about like a cork off rum row, Kaplan made himself a difficult target, however, and Her man's right hand leads were par ticularly Ineffective. At Infighting Kaplan had all the best of it and it was thus that he retained his championship for the Babe was obviously the stronger of the two. Twice when he missed savage right swings Herman was clipped on the side of the head by Kap lan and turned complete somer saults, coming up" on hk feet. He was toueh as a tiger throughout and showed less fatigue than the champion except for an angry red spot under hi. What would have been the sixth bank failure In two day in Denver was averted In dramatic fashion Fri day by Bishop Frank Rice of the Liberal church, inc., who, plough ing bis way through aa excited mob of depositors clamoring at the Central Savings bank, deposited a 8100 note to hi account and thereby baited a rnn on the in stitution. j The agonized depositors looked upon the churchman with amaxe- ment as ha turned from the cash . ler's window with a smile upon his I face. He raised his hand as if to speak, and a quiet fell upon the depositors who, a moment before had been fighting back the spectre of a black Christmas day. "See" began the bishop. "I have faith. I have placed my money In the hands of these men. It' would be a foolish thing to make a run on this institution. It would be bringing ruin upon yourselves. I beg you to have faith." : No sermon ever preached by Bishop Rice had a more telling effect.
