All this construction has been financed by bond issues authorixed by the legal voters of school district The tact that the schools ot Klam ath Falls have been outgrowing the sources ot revenue has made it dif ficult for the board to offer as good salaries to teachers as they would like to do. We have just recently adopted a new salary schedule, rang ing from $1300.00 to $1400.00 for elementary teachers. Special teach ers and principals, ot course get more. Under the new schedule a teacher's salary will be governed by AO. l. During tn:s period oi time ner experience and length of ser bonds amounting to $37,000.00 have; Tjce been retired. There are bonds now outstanding of $310,000.00 and pro vision is regularly made to retire these as fast as possible. All bonds issued prior to 19 IS have been paid in full. Assessed valuation of the district at this time Is over $0,000,000.00. A fair estimate ot the total value of all school property of the district at the present time would be from $550,000.00 to $800,000.00. The site on which the old Central school At present we are employing 40 class-room teachers, and three spec ial teachers for music, manual train ing, and domestic science, making a total ot 43. It will be necessary to employ about five additional teach ers when we occupy the new Fre mont school, which will be about the first of the year. Adams, president of the bank, point ed out that the Institution's deposits of $400,000 had shrunk to $100. 000 within wo weeks. "The situation demanded we turn the bank over to state officials." he said, "and thereby protect the Interests of depositors." The fifth to close its doors was the Capitol Hill State bank.
