Homecoming at Henley as the Honkers visit in one of the old ;est grid rivalries of coun ; ty schools. : -' The Hornets take a 3-1 league : record and a 4-2 overall mark ; into the contest opposing the 1-5 season record and 0-4 counting ' standard of tiie Honkers. ;: In the other A-2 fray, Ross ;. Cariaga's Trojans seek their ini ; tial win of the season in travel ing to Eagle Point. The Trojans have a (MS record for the year and a 0-4 league mark. The Pointers were downed by Henley in opening the Rogue Valley League action 14-13 and the Hornets have also added the Trojans to their list of victims. In the Henlcy-Lakeview con test, the Hornets will attempt to increase their win skein over the Honkers to four straight. The Hornets posted a close 19-13 win in I960 by scoring the winning touchdown in tlie last 15 seconds of the contest. In 1961 it was a 13-7 victory for the Hornets and last year a 24-6 triumph went into (lie books for the Henley eleven. The "field" had a slight slope from goal line to goal line and in the fourth period the Hornets had the advantage of ". . . running downhill." The result was a 6-6 deadlock going into the final period was wiped out by the Hornets as they came on for three addi tional touchdowns and the 24-6 win. Prior to the last three con tests, the Lakcview eleven had posted wins in 1958 and 1959. With the Hornets' Homecom ing the order of the day and the Honkers looking to spoil t h e day's activities, an interesting, close contest is expected. The Hornets have been able to salvage just one Homecoming win since the start of the annu al celebration at Henley in 1957. This was a 25-0 triumph record ed in 1959 over Illinois Valley., Both clubs are expected to be at full strength for the encount er, with the Hornets count ing the return of Roger Fargo and Bugs Lewis in the lineup for the first time in two weeks. Both have been out with inju ries. In the Sacred Heart Eagle Point contest, the Pointers will be heavy favorites to hand the Trojans another setback. The Trojans will rely upon the passing of Jim Korsen, lor I he most part, with the hope their running game will improve enough to give them a two pronged attack. It's a football doubleheader slated for the Merrill field, with the host Huskies, currently McKinley Brings U.S. Back In Net Picture NEW YORK IUPD - Alter eight disappointing years. Chuck McKinley has brought the United States back to the top of the men's world tennis rankings. The persistent Texan from San Antonio was ranked num ber one by Ned Potter of World Tennis magazine. The last Am erican to receive a similar hon or was Tony Trabert in 1955. McKinley, the Wimbledon champion, won over Australia's Roy Emerson. Two other Americans Dennis Ralston of Bakersfield, Calif., and Frank Froehling of Coral Gables, Fla., also were in the top ten. Ralston was ranked fourth and Froehling. runner-up in.the U.S. championships, was sixth. In the women's division, the top spot went to Margaret Smith, the Australian who has lost only five times this year. It was the second straight year for Miss Smith at the top of the women's division. In addition to the Americans and Emerson, the rest of the top ten is relatively mixed. For Gene Christianson's Hus kies, the meeting with the Ant lers will be a return go as they attempt to protect their league leadership and unblemished mark, i The Huskies have rolled to a 5-0 record for the campaign and a 3 0 mark in counting action. The Antlers will palce their 2-2-1 record for the year on the line against the Huskies, with a league mark currently stand ing a 0-2-1. In a previous meeting, the Huskies posted a 40-21 victory over the Antlers. The Antlers have also met Chiloquin in counting action and CLARK HEADS FIELD MEXICO CITY lUPIi World champion automobile racer Jim Clark of England heads the field of 23 drivers competing next Sunday in the second Grand Prix of Mexico. Others now on the scene practicing for the event include 1962 Graham Hill and Mexico's Pedro Rodri- guez. collected a 7-7 standoff, while last Friday night Bonanza dropped a 6-0 nod to Malin. The Huskies, in addition to their victory over the Antlers earlier, have downed Chiloquin 23-14 and Malin 44-7 in their oilier two league triumphs. Chiloquin places its 1-1-1 league mark on the line against the Mustangs and an overall season record of 1-3-1, w hile the Mustangs are now 1-2 in count ing play and 2-4 for the season. Tlie Mustangs have also downed the Henley JVs f o r their other victory and have dropped league contests to Chil oquin in an earlier meeling 13-7 and to the Merrill eleven. This is the lineup (or Klam ath B League teams this weekend. Also slated for Friday night, the Tulelake Honkers will seek their fourth victory of the sea son over the visiting Cedarvilie eleven. The Honkers raised their sea son mark to 3-3 last Friday night by turning back McCloud, 14-0. The Honkers have dropped decisions to Merrill, Bonanza and Alturas while defeating Malin and Chiloquin.
