lr ' I'" f - . pi ? fd ST. V ffcf , , RECENT VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Angel recent, ly visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert p.A. Angel. The young couple make their home in Washing ton, D.C., where he plays the violin with the National Symphony Orchestra. Wayne Angel Visits Home Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Angel and family have recently received a visit from their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ansel, presently from Washington D.C. At this time the first reun ion in five years was held by the two families. 1 Mrs. Angel is the former Chris tine Meister. daughter of Kurt and Luca Meister of Hamburg, Germany, where they were mar ried. At the time of their wedding he was serving with the Army and she was studying for her doctor ate degree in German literature. A graduate of Portland State claim appearances with most University in 1958, Wayne can major symphonies in the North west. He was first place in vio lin in the 1955 Federated Music Clubs national competition and has the distinction of having been the youngest artist ever to have been a member of the Portland Symphony in Portland. After being drafted into the Army in 1959, he attained the rank of sergeant while playing with the Seventh Army Symphony in Eu rope. Also during this time he was concert master and soloist of the orchestra. During his tours in Europe with the Seventh Army Symphony Or chestra, the young violinist soloed in many countries, including Ger many, Fiance. Italy, Denmark and Spain. Included in this group was a solo played in Bonn, Ger many for Chancellor Adenauer. In this lime, he gained excellent reviews from the German critics. Wayne is presently a member of the National Symphony Orches tra in Washington D.C, conduct ed by Howard Mitchell. This is rated as one of the top five or chestras in the country. Although he is one of the youngest mem bers of the group, he holds the fourth stand in the first violin1 section of the orchestra. In the coming years, he plans tp continue his solo work by play ing with the National Chamber Orchestra, directed by Guidi Mon BABY SHOWER MALIN Mrs. Norman Unis was honored recently with a pink and blue shower at the home of Mrs. James Conroy. The room ' was decorated in keeping with the baby theme. Games were played and a social evening followed. After opening the many lovely gifts, refreshments were served to 35 guests by the hostesses Mrs. Ted Sehmidli, Mrs. Charles Duncan, Mrs. Cy McCoIgin, Mrs. Adolph Drazil and M r s. James Conroy. Altar decorations were pink and white dahlias and gladioli. Eva Baker was the organist and Molhe O'Kecfte, the soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was dressed in a gown of white silk and lace with Sabrina neckline, long sleeves and full skirt which extended into a chapel train. Mrs. Dorothy Adams, center, is presi dent of the chapter. Two Inducted Into Society A colorful and traditional ini tiation program was the high light of the Oct. S luncheon meeting of Alpha Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, International honor society for women teach ers. President Dorothy Adams greeted members of long stand ing as well as the new Initiates, Mrs. Lucile Davison and Mrs. Hazel Todd in the Pelican Par ty Room which was resplendent in the brilliant crimson and gold colors of the organization. During the business meeting recognition was given Mrs. Ruth Obenchain, the only woman school principal in K I a m a t h County. Mrs. Dea Jean Wright, first vice president, told die group of forthcoming programs for the years and Mrs. Christine Mur ray, second vice president, gave I an interesting review of the book, "Our Heritage. Prior to the initiation ceremo ny which was conducted by Mrs. Adams, assisted by Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Christine Murray and Mrs. Esther Deller, Mrs. Jane Craig sang "Only a Rose," accom panied by Marie Obenchaio. Mrs. Craig also sang Die Delta Kappa Gamma song during the in'tiation ceremony. Assisting Ellen Konop with the decorations were Mrs. Rose O'Leary, Mrs. Christine Murray, Mrs. Isabel Sanders and Mrs. Mary Whiting. Nov. 2 is the date set for the next meeting which will be at the Wlnema Hotel. held the fingertip illusion veil. The bridal bouquet was of pink rose buds and wite carnations. Rosalind Crockett, Merrill, bridesmaid, wore a short dark pink frock with bell skirt. A veiled flower headdress was also pink. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations. Tony Tschirky, Tulelake, was best man. Ushers were Darwin Carroll and Norburt Anthes, both of Tulelake. Mrs. Mauch wore for the occa sion a blue and white silk print dress with white hat and acces- Pink and white flowers and sil ver appointments trimmed the ta ble which held the cake served by Mrs. Jeff Parsons. Mrs. Ted Wal-j ker and Mrs. Dick Montgomery served punch and Shirley Alcorn poured coffee. Janice Cook attend ed the guest book. The couple spent their honey moon in San Francisco. The bride's going away outfit was a red suit with black fur collar and black patent accessories. The bridegroom served with the Army after finishing Tulelake High School. He is presently em ployed by Glass Mountain Block Company. They will make their home in Tulelake. Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Dan Andreas, Mr. and Mrs. Joe C. Hcilman, Toppenish, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Koch ler, Gait, Calif.; Capt. Rod Davis, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. Colorful news is turn-tan, a soft vicuna hue with a golden glow.
