RECENT VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Angel recent,
ly visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert
p.A. Angel. The young couple make their home in Washing
ton, D.C., where he plays the violin with the National
Symphony Orchestra.
Wayne Angel Visits Home
Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Angel
and family have recently received
a visit from their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Ansel, presently from Washington
D.C. At this time the first reun
ion in five years was held by the
two families. 1
Mrs. Angel is the former Chris
tine Meister. daughter of Kurt
and Luca Meister of Hamburg,
Germany, where they were mar
ried. At the time of their wedding
he was serving with the Army and
she was studying for her doctor
ate degree in German literature.
A graduate of Portland State
claim appearances with most
University in 1958, Wayne can
major symphonies in the North
west. He was first place in vio
lin in the 1955 Federated Music
Clubs national competition and
has the distinction of having been
the youngest artist ever to have
been a member of the Portland
Symphony in Portland.
After being drafted into the
Army in 1959, he attained the rank
of sergeant while playing with the
Seventh Army Symphony in Eu
rope. Also during this time he
was concert master and soloist of
the orchestra.
During his tours in Europe with
the Seventh Army Symphony Or
chestra, the young violinist soloed
in many countries, including Ger
many, Fiance. Italy, Denmark
and Spain. Included in this group
was a solo played in Bonn, Ger
many for Chancellor Adenauer.
In this lime, he gained excellent
reviews from the German critics.
Wayne is presently a member
of the National Symphony Orches
tra in Washington D.C, conduct
ed by Howard Mitchell. This is
rated as one of the top five or
chestras in the country. Although
he is one of the youngest mem
bers of the group, he holds the
fourth stand in the first violin1
section of the orchestra.
In the coming years, he plans
tp continue his solo work by play
ing with the National Chamber
Orchestra, directed by Guidi Mon

was honored recently with a
pink and blue shower at the
home of Mrs. James Conroy.
The room ' was decorated in
keeping with the baby theme.
Games were played and a social
evening followed.
After opening the many lovely
gifts, refreshments were served
to 35 guests by the hostesses

ty Room which was resplendent
in the brilliant crimson and gold
colors of the organization.

years and Mrs. Christine Mur

Company. They will make their
home in Tulelake.

Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Koch
