OVER THE GARDEN GATE ' DAIRY Louisa Horton enter PAGE-4B HERALD AND NEWS, Kiamith Falls, Oregon Sunday, October 20, 183 tained the Bonanza Garden Club on Sept. 27. Irene Hartley, president, conducted the business meeting at which time the group discussed the Christmas tree lighting contest sponsored by the club each December. After the meeting, a surprise towel shower was given for Eve lyn Wood who has moved to Klamath Falls. Mrs. Gordon Bracken and Mrs. Oscar Cappellen were guests. The next meeting will be Oct. 9 at the home of Elizabeth Bell in Dairy. Returning classmates registered at the high school and took advantage of the opportunity to tour the building, many for the first time in 20 years. That evening a social hour and dinner dance was held at Reames Country Club which was decorated 'with natural greens and the class colors of silver and blue. He was a speaker at the banquet. Formerly a physical education instructor at KUHS, he now is superinten dent of a junior high school in Pendleton. Ralph Foster, senior class president, was emcee. The then student body president, George Proctor, and his wife, the former Dorothy Riggs, were also present. SORORITY OFFICER Mrs. Blake Hopwood, Portland, recently visited in Klamath Falls officially as Pi Beta Phi sorority alumnae president of Omicron Province. While hero she was a guest at the home of Mrs. Fred Ehlers. Members of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club met for a no host dinner at Pelican Cafe, followed by dessert and meeting at the home of Mrs. Robert Kent. Mrs. Gene Gjerrsen is president of the local group. Their dresses were styled identically to that of the maid of honor and all three carried sprays of tropicana roses Jay Durkin, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and James Nelson, brother of the bride, and Henry Sarlatte, Son Carlos, were ushers. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Nelson of Uunsmtiir. She attended local schools and Chico State College. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Durkin of San Carlos. He attended College of San Mateo after graduating from San Carlos schools. The new Mrs. Nelson donned an autumn brown wool suit with au tumn haze mink collar and hat before departing on a wedding trip to Carmcl and Southern Cal ifornia, Her mother wore a bro caded sheath in tones of blue and green with a tiny feathered hat to match. The senior Mrs. Durkin wore a beige boucle sheath with cranberry hot and gloves. Nearly one hundred guests and members enjoyed a fashion show from Bon Bazaar and Fashion Villa with commentary by Mar garet Larkin. Club members were models. Her husband, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fernlund, Lan gcll Valley, is in the Navy and Attends Convention NEW PINE CREEK Postmas ter Buna Faris and her husband, Irvin Faris were among the 3,000 postmasters over the United States who attended the recent na tional convention in Honolulu. They were accompanied on the. trip by Esther Guddat, postmis tress at Crescent. The trip was made by plane. On the return trip, Mr. and Mrs. Faris visited with Mrs. Roy Tur ner in Oakland and in Alameda with his sister, Mrs. Bonnie Ad arms and family. The Faris' daughter, Mrs. Su san Vincent, Bly, and Mrs. Faris' sister, Mrs. Dorothy Blunt, Smith River, assumed the post office duties and the personal business of Mr. and Mrs. Faris during their absence. is now in the Antartic for a year.
