.-1 Don't Depend Wholly On TV For Interest By ANN LANDERS Dear Ann Landers: That let ter from "Flag Waver" really got my blood to boiling. So he is S in favor ol ship ping live million foreigners back. to "where they came from," is the? Well, I'm in favor of ship ping 178 million I foreingers back. In 1492 those foreigners started to com over here in boatloads with their superior weapons and their big Ideas. They murdered, plundered and stole this land from my ancestors who had rightful claim to It for centuries. Of course the TV version shows it another way. but any honest historian can give you the straight slory of what actually happened, if you are interested. It isn't very pretty. Since "Flag Waver" seems so adamant about sending the for eigners back may I suggest he start the trend by being the lirst to leave? CHIEF RAIN IN THE FACE Dear Chief: Thank you for an interesting letter and an accurate (If somewhat oversimplified) per spective of American history. which the people don't seem to care about getting repaired, so I have to sit around and look at the our walls all evening. This can bo very boring for five hours. I know you are against baby sitters having boy friends visit when they are on the job but what about inviting a girl friend or two? You said once no company" but I hope you will break down and change your ad vice because the two women I work for follow your column and they are going to do as you say. Pretty pleasc?-SAD SACK Dear Sack: I'm especially sad that with all the fascinating books that have been written you can't think of a thing to do when the TV konks out but sit and look at four walls. A wise philosopher once said that the surest test of a person ii what he does when he has nothing to do. How do you stack up? 'DENNIS THE MENACE" Dear Ann Landers: I'm a 16-ycar-old girl who loves children. I do a lot of baby-sitting and it's sort of a hobby with me although I can use the extra money. The two familites where I sit; most have small children who must be put to bed early. One of these homes has a trchen TV Signals New Installed MOUNT SHASTA New traffic control lights for the city of Mount Shasta will bo turned on July 1 and will flash on and off for four days to acquaint the public with the lights before they are put into actual operation. What is your opinion? lllKi-u Dear Irked: If you don't want to bring refreshments to the wed ding, why don't you say so? Some people offer to bring re freshments to affairs of this kind. but putting the arm on friends and relatives Is a pretty brassy maneuver. Kill Friday, June 21, 196 Hi. on LAKEVIEW A mosquito con trol program can be effective but everyone must cooperate, said Bill Moscr, Lake County extension agent. Tile mosquito control program is being carried out by the Lake County Jaycecs and the Oregon State Board of Health in coopera tion with the Lakcview City Coun cil. Mosquitoes are easily and eco nomically controlled if all stag nant streams, sloughs , ponds and puddles are chemically treated to prevent reproduction, Moser not ed. These areas of stagnant water are required by the mosquitoes for reproducing themselves. The mosquito lays eggs in stag nant water, and within a few days the eggs grow in larvae or "wigglers" from which the adult mosquito emerges in two to seven days. It is when the mosquito is in the larvae stage, living in stag nant water, that control measures are most effective. Ponds treated with granular! insecticides can be kept free of mosquito larvae all summer, pre venting the mosquito from everl Moser KIkevspaperIiJ MjyfflEHgTj wmmm gmLwm Richman, Poormon, Beggar man, Thief.
