The Klamath Falls Branch of the American Association of Uni versity Women Higher Education Study Group recently participat ed in an AAUW evaluation of a proposed public school course. The evaluation of the course, "Democ racy versus Communism" was made at the request of the Ore gon Slate Department of Educa tion. The resulting critique which combined suggestions from the 26 Oregon branches was commend ed by both the governor and the department. The report submitted to the De partment of Education stated that the course as presented was too mature for the students and that while fairness to communism was accorded, course material must not apologize for democracy. Branches suggested books to be added to the course bibliography, special teacher training, and close correlation with current events.
