On Jon. 19 at the Merrill Presbyterian Church, a dinner was arranged as a sur prise lor Cleve Ochs, who has gone lo Germany where he plans to live. Hosts for the dinner were Mr and Mrs. Clovis Story. Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Hender.son, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Reeves. Assisting were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bowman and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howard Approximately 30 Iriends were present. Decorations were Ger man language posters and signs made by Mrs. Bill Kurlz. The second MerriL party was Gene Dentonsl Canton Crater Wed 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. Gene Denton on Jan. 33 celebrated the 50th anni versary of that day in 1913 when they were married in Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Denton, the former Gladys Coon, and her husband are both natives of that city. They have resided in Klamath Falls since 1M5. He was press room foreman for the Herald and News until he retired two years ago after a lifetime of newspa per work. The party in their honor was arranged by a daughter, Mrs. V. A. i Dolores) Coles. She was assisted by Mrs. James Clark. Another daughter. Mrs. Max- ine Hagen, Sioux City, unable to be present, congratulated her parents by telephone during the evening. Several other congratulatory messages and two money trees were also received by the Dentons. Bouquets of yellow chrysanthe mums about the Denton home on North Third Street were appro priate to the occasion. Guests were served wedding cake, a three tiered confection trimmed with orange flowers and gold leaves. Punch was poured by Camille Southard. Among those honoring Mr. and Mrs. Denton were close friends Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hofland of San Francisco, formerly of Sioux City. Also present was a granddaugh ler. Mrs. Ronald Uuliel Ruby and baby son Jeffery from San Diego. Mrs. Rubv took charge of the guest book for rer grand parents. A second granddaughter. Pame la Hagen, resides in Sioux City Lidies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant of Canton Crater No. 7 met at its regular meeting on Jan. 24 in the Odd Fellows Hall with Lady Sylvia Jones presiding. Ladies installed were Stella Drv- den. right aide to the junior pat president, and Sally Hoffman, lclt aide to the chaplain. Lady Helen Blanas. installing officer and Lady Helen McCormack. adjutant, were assisted by Lady elma Javor aski, aide. The auxiliary decided to join the cantons in practicing a com petitive drill to be performed at the state meeting al The Dalles sometime in May. Lady Sylvia Jones had a very interesting meting. closing with a reading, "A Thought for Today and requested that members bring tlee thoughts to all fu ture meetings. Valentines, w ith the name, rank and number of the auxiliary were sent to hte patients at the Odd Fellows Home. At tlie next meeting, all mem bers are to bring a valentine witli their favorite recipe on the back of the cards. , l the close of the meeting refreshments were served by Lady Vera Fritsch and Lady lona May Wells. One way to reduce sun-streaked draperies is to make the top and bottom hems the same and se lect a pattern that can be hung upside down. Every few weeks just hang them bottom side up. Lions Aux. . Plans Party; : The Klamath Falls Lions Auxil iary met at the home of Blanche Franklin on Jan. 14 for the regu-; lar monthly meeting. Serving with her were Marline Ewing, Marge Moslcy and Marceil Clark. The auxiliary made plans tV entertain their husDands at - a; sweetheart party at the Yacht Club on Feb. II. A potluck is planned and a white elephant sale. This affair wil take the place of the regular business meeting. For entertainment at the Janu-' ary meeting. Dr. C. W. Davis, showed pictures he hud taken bp; a recent trip to Europe. : '. Special prizes were won bf Martha Partlctt and Anne ....-s..;,; a farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Perdue, who are moving to Pen dleton where he will be affiliated with that city's branch of the Fust National Bank of Oregon The party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ahern and attended by fedow employes of the Merrill bank branch, who presented the departing couple with a gift. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Don Pylc. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hart, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hill.
