March Results Mrs. Maude Bennett, chairman of the Mothers March in Lake County conducted (or the March of Dimes last week, reports that $1,157.64 has been re turned to date. All sections of the county have not yet reported but the figure is already over that of last year. New Job Glen Tyler, Lake County surveyor for the past 10 years, has been appointed by Lew is A. Stanley, state engineer, to take over the job of county wa termaster vacated by the retire ment of Phil Smith as of Janu ary 1, 1939. Tyler will handle both jobs with the aid of a full time assistant. In Hospital Don Roberts of Swan Lake underwent surgery to day, February 13, in Emanuel Hos pital in Portland. Mrs. Roberts is in Portland to be near her hus band, who is expected to be in the hospital about two weeks. Friends may write him in care of Emanuel Hospital, Portland, Ore gon. Mt. Lakl Garden Ciub will meet at the home of Mrs C. H. Kelly on Homedale Road on Feb ruary 16 at 1:30 p.m. The pro gram will be on conservation: wa ter, trees and birds. From Pendleton Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ashworth and family of Pen dleton are visiting Ashworth's sis ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Short, and family in Dairy. To Sacramento Mrs. William Bell, Dairy, accompanied b e r daughter, Mrs. Leona Morin. who had been a guest of Mr. and Mrs Bell for a few days, on her re turn to her home in Sacramento. Mrs. Bell will also be a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Tom House in Sacra mento. Mrs. House is Mrs. Bell's granddaughter. She expects to go to San Luis Obispo for a few days to visit with a niece. New Pine Creek Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Johnston of New Pine Creek were recent guests of cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Edwards, in Greenville. From Long Valley Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Kispert, Long Valley, California, were weekend visitors at the Art Lenkeit home in New Pine Creek. Kispert is a highway supervisor of the Long Valley divi sion of Stale Highway 39.1 which is one of the highest divisions in the slate. To Red Bluff-Bill Allen of New Pine Creek attended the bull sale in Red Bluff last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Robnett and Will Vcron, New Pine Creek, also at tended the sale. New Pine Creek Mr. and Mrs. Clay Lawson. accompanied by George Converse, were Red Bluff visitors last week. In, quire about HOMI STUDr. INVISI IH TOU UIUM Gospel Missions President Confers With Basin Chief James Walbrink, president of the International Union of Gospel Mis sions of the Pacific Northwest Dis trict, was present in Klamath Falls this week, in conference with John Pedersen, superintendent of the Klamath Falls Gospel Mission, on plans for observance of the first anniversary of the mission here. Date for the annual banquet and dinner meeting is March 13 at 6:30 p.m. Place of the dinner is to be announced. Walbrink will return for the ban quet as speaker on "Skid Row to President of the International Un ion." Plans are being made for a bad ly needed dormitory addition to provide beds for those who spend a few nights at the mission. One night this week 50 men came for shelter and present bed facilities cannot accommodate that num ber. The building fund has a total cash outlay of $."20 and $10,000 will be required for the proposed addition. Anyone wishing to donate may do so by contacting the mis sion. In a review of services to un fortunate men dating from last March when the mission was owned to January 30. 1958. Peder sen states that the following fig ures have been compiled: 26.414 meals, shelter for 10.206, articles of clothing distributed total 5,607. shaves and showers, 2.975, hair cuts, 358, 201 men have been treat ed for body lice extermination and 334 men have gone to the altar for spiritual counseling. The mission work is maintained entirely on a voluntary basis, and in reviewing the past year, Su perintendent Pedersen states (hat "the response has been be yond all expectation." He highly commended Klamath Falls city of ficials, businessmen, the churches, numerous organizations and the hundreds of other residents who have helped to make success of the mission work possible. The time will be 6:30 p.m. Lloyd Samson, Training Union di rector, is in charge of banquet preparations. One hundred and fif ty people are expected to attend, therj were 138 last year. Royalty is being emphasized in all of the preparations including the program, table and room dec orations, tickets, and posters. The program committee for "Ye Royal Banquette." includes: Mrs. George Casey, Vivian McKeehan, Arlene Dixon, and Frances Row land. Mrs. J. B. Dennis. Mary Jo n.enneit. Jean Jones. Pearl Man- non. Faye Rutherford, Addie Boothby, Lorraine Cuendet. Verda Cogburn. Peggy Taylor, and Leona Dunson have prepared the decora tions. The publicity committee is Burl Pipkin and Rodney Larson. Ed Boothy, Dale Harvey and George Casey have planned the business arrangements. Clyde Dixon, with the help of Judy Robinson, Katy Warren, Sondra Nichols, Dale El lis, and LeRoy Larson sold tickets. While there are several social functions during the year for vari ous groups in the church, the valf entine banquet is one of the two all-church social activities, when everyone in the church has the opportunity to take part. Due to the increasing attendance each year, it has become necessary for the banquet to be held outside the church, because of limited spar.
