Dr. Stanley Chappel. head of the music department of the Univer sity of Washington, former con ductor of the BBC Symphony England and assistant conductor of the St. Louis Symphony, will handle the baton for the orches tra, and the band will appear un der the direction of Erik Leid zen, internationally famous com poser and arranger. Their training will be climaxed by a concert in the Civic Auditor ium in Seattle for the final meet ing of the Biannual Convention of Northwest Music Educators Assoc iation. Selected music students from Oregon. Washington, Idaho, Mon tana, Wyoming and Alaska will be included in the group. There will be 200 students in the band 200 in the orchestra and 500 in the chorus.
