Church Training Series Resumes McCLOUD The next session In Ihe current church officer training series of the McCloud Presbyteri an Church will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. All ruling elders and deacons active, inactive and elect are urged to attend. Following the training hour, the session will hold its January meet ing at which time the officers elect will be examined prior to their ordination, this being in ac cordance with the provisions of the new constitution of the United Pres bytcrian Church, USA. Taylor, Siskiyou County tax assessor, is anticipat ing considerable protest on the parts of Siskiyou County taxpayers about March 1, concerning the four new property tax forms that will be used for the first time this year. 4-H NEWS BACHELOR BUDDIES The Bachelor Buddies held their first meeting January 2, 1959 at the home of our leader, Mrs. Walter Croft. Election of officers was held and the following were elected: John Caldwell, president Dan Croft, vice president; Scott Skinner, secretary; and Bill Bey mer, news reporter. We filled out enrollment cards and record books, then adjourned to the kitchen where we all helped make "Apple Crisp" and enjoved eating it afterwards. After sewing to catch up on their 4-H projects they held a business meeting. The roll call topic was "Articles Used in Sew ing. They discussed demonstra tions for the fair; several mem bers plan to participate. For this month's community service the club is going to send a card and remembrance to a teacher who is ill. Diane West gave a demonstra tion on "How to Apply a Zipper Correctly." Jinx Parker, song leader, led us in a song to close the meeting. Diane west News Reporter According to statements made by Taylor, all county taxpayers will receive at least one of the new forms. These are designed 30 that the taxpayer must give a more detailed accounting of his properties than has been required in former years, and the completed tax form must bear the signature of the taxpayer under penalty uf perjury. Tax forms, used in pre vious years, required merely a statement "to the best of the taxpayers knowledge." Taylor stated that some of the businessmen would particularly protest1 the new forms, since for the first time they will be re quired to give a detailed inventory. More stringent accounting will also apply to farmers and industries. Taylor expressed himself by say ing that "It was inevitable that the process of detailed inventories started on timber and improve ments should eventually extend to all property." He also added that, it was only fair and was something that should have been done a long time ago. Taylor further mentioned that it I was the biggest clampdown in the history of taxation at all levels, county, state and federal, and that it would require more detail and accuracy in filling out the new torms. He announced that the new forms will be mailed out sometime in February to meet the March dead line. W. D. Portland District Engineers said the jetties will create a channel 13 feet deep and 300 feet wide near the Southern Oregon town of Gold Beach.
