According to statements made
by Taylor, all county taxpayers
will receive at least one of the
new forms. These are designed 30
that the taxpayer must give a
more detailed accounting of his
properties than has been required
in former years, and the completed
tax form must bear the signature
of the taxpayer under penalty uf
perjury. Tax forms, used in pre
vious years, required merely a
statement "to the best of the
taxpayers knowledge."
Taylor stated that some of the
businessmen would particularly
protest1 the new forms, since for
the first time they will be re
quired to give a detailed inventory.
More stringent accounting will also
apply to farmers and industries.
Taylor expressed himself by say
ing that "It was inevitable that
the process of detailed inventories
started on timber and improve
ments should eventually extend to
all property." He also added that,
it was only fair and was something
that should have been done a long
time ago.
Taylor further mentioned that it I
was the biggest clampdown in the
history of taxation at all levels,
county, state and federal, and that
it would require more detail and
accuracy in filling out the new
torms.
He announced that the new forms
will be mailed out sometime in
February to meet the March dead
line.
