General Mills presents the photo and recipe. FROZEN DESSERTS Young and old lovers of choco late will enjoy the idea of a creamy frozen fudge pie for a cool summer dessert treat. You know how youngsters enjoy "fudgsicles" is a chocolate pie with the same fudgy flavor, and frozen too! One package of the summer -convenient mix will make a Frozen Fudge Pie and also a delicious Chocolate Mousse, using half of the contents for each recipe. To make the pie you first make a flaky pie crust using your favorite recipe or pie crust mix in sticks. For the filling use half a package of chocolate fudge frosting m l x made as directed on the package, adding boiling water. Blend with chilled whipping cream, beat until stiff, and pour into pie shell. For a garnish, use toasted almonds then freeze. It's that simple! Your family will also enjoy a delicious and refreshing Peanut Creme Frozen Pie. The peanut creme mix, combined with whipped cream; makes a quick-to-prepare hot weather specialty. "Mousse," French for moss or foam, describes its smooth creamy quality. The remaining half of the chocolate fudge or pea nut creme frosting mix can be used in making an unusually fine chilled mousse. Try this mousse. chilled in sherbet dishes and gar nished with bitter chocolate sliv ers, next hot day. Here are the recipes as de veloped in the Betty Crocker! kitchens: FROZEN FUDGE PIE (or Peanut Creme Pie) 1 8 inch or 9 inch baked pie shell Vi package Beety Crocker Chocolate Fudge Frosting Mix or Peanut Creme Frost ing Mix ' 2 tablespoons boiling water lVi cups chilled whipping cream Toasted almonds for garnish ' Mix as directed on the package, using only two tablespoons boiling water. Blend chilled whipping cream and prepared frosting; beat until stiff. Pour into pie shell. Garnish with toasted almonds. Freeze until firm. CHOCOLATE MOUSSE Vi package Betty Crocker Cho colate fudge frosting mix or Peanut Creme Frosting Mix ; l'i cups whipping cream ; :Make one-half package Chocolate or Peanut Creme Frosting from the mix. Betty Crocker Meringue Mix 1 pt. ice cream Make meringue shells as di rected on meringue mix package. using one packet of mix. Fill 6 shells with firm ice cream (about 1 pt.). Freeze on paper covered baking sheet until firm. Prepare soft meringue from other packet oi mix. cover ice - cream com pletely, sealing meringue to shell. Bake in 500 degree (very hot) oven 3 to 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Serve immediately Makes 6 servings.
