The dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. October 26, in the school gymnasium and tickets may be obtained from any academy student. MARY IRVING Horizon Girls Name Leader , New president of, the Horizon Girls Cabinet, high school age group of Camp Fire Girls, is Mary Irving, elected to the high office on October 16. Wary, a senior at Klamath Union High School is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Irving. She has been in Camp Fire work for 11 years. All Horizon clubs in the Camp Fire Council have, representatives in the cabinet. Newly elected offi cers will be in charge of the Southern Oregon Zone Conference to be held in Klamath Falls next March. Mary will preside at- the sessions. On the agenda for the local girls in the near future is partici pation in the Christmas service program of the Christmas Clear ing Bureau. In addition to her work in Camp Fire which includes work as a councilor in training at Camp Ka-est-a, Mary plans to continue her higher education in prepara tion for teaching, is interested in swimming, diving, archery, skiing, is a member of Job's Daughters, Future Teachers of America, the Girls Athletic Association, KUHS, Script and Microphone Guild, the Science Club, German Club. She assists with the annual presen tation of Pclicana end numerous other activities. Dinner will be served cafeteria style at 5:30 p.m. Home A. L. Wright left for his home in San Diego Monday after spending the past three months with his sister and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Goode, Macdoel. Convention Mrs. Leo Luzzi and Mrs. Ted Johnson of Macdoel attended a state grange conven tion at Paso Koblcs last week They visited Mrs. Luzzi's brother and family at Salinas. California, a sister at Mt. View and another sister at San Rafael. Mrs. Johnson visited her sister-in-law. Mrs. Her man Seelig, at Mills Valley. They returned home Monday. Guests Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dunnigan of Gvidley, California and George Barnes of Chico were weekend hunting guests of Mrs. Maggie Criss and Mrs. Josie Dun can. Mrs. Bernice Driscoll and Alice of Tulelake also spent the weekend visiting with Mrs. Criss and Hinting. Improvement of the instruction al program in Oregon's schools will be the principal subject for discussion by delegates attending the 11th annual fall conference of the Oregon Education Association, Department of Classroom Teach ers in Portland Friday and Satur day, October 25 and 26. Meetings will be at the Portland Public Library and Lincoln High School. Vivian Powell, president of the National Department of Classroom Teachers, and Martha Shull, Jef ferson High School teacher, Port land, and immediate past presi dent of the National Education As sociation will be featured speak ers. Registration will begin at 12 noon at the public library on Fri day. Miss Powell will speak Friday evening on "Quality Teaching Keystone of Progress," the con ference theme, and again Saturday morning on "What Every Teach er Should Know About the De partment of Classroom Teachers." Miss Shull will address the con ference banquet, Saturday eve ning at the Benson Hotel. U.S. Navy, of the USS Prairie of San Diego is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ketchum and sister Sydne of Bonanza, arriving October 22 and leaving November 1. Former owners of Lorella store Mr. and Mrs. Frank DeBel spent a week in Langell Valley and Klamath Falls with rel atives and friends. They now live at Silverton. Son The Modoc Medical Cen ter at Alturas reports the birth of a baby boy, weighing 7 lbs., 14 ozs. to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lousignant of Alturas. Funeral was Thursday in the Beiber Community Church for Gary Douglas Line, who died Sun day at Adin. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Line, a brother, Bill, and a sister, Judy, all of Adin. Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rhoades of Las Vegas visited her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Leavitt of Langell Valley last weekend. They were also guests at the home of his uncle, Waldo Rhoades and family, of Klamath Falls.
