Mrs. Avery is the former Louise Goodrich, Klamath Falls and the couple visited here frequently. Funeral services were held November 28 in Portervllle. Called Mrs. Lena Horton. Klam ath Falls was called recently to Ashland by the death of her broth er, Arthur F. Abbott, 84, member of a prominent Oregon family. Death Word has been received of the death of a former Klamath Falls resident. Mrs. John Wolf rum, November 27 at her home In Kalispell. Montana. She left Klam ath Falls about six years ago. The exercise was held on the Pa cific Coast near Camp Pendleton, California. American ships were supplemented by ships of the Roy al Canadian Navy. Meeting Unit No. 12 of the Dis abled American Veterans Auxiliary will hold its regular meeting at 8 p.m. Friday in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Mrs. Nehammer, who Is a mem ber of the National Board of Re search for the Federation of State Rape Trial Begins Monday A preliminary hearing for Bll- lle Richardson, 20-year-old Bend logger.- charged with rape, Is set for Monday at 10 a.m. in District Judge D. E. Van Vactor's court. The logger, accused of ravishing a 36-year-old Klamath Falls house wife, was arrested Wednesday in Roseburg by Deputy Sheriff Del Summers. According to - District Attorney Richard Beesley, Richardson was a guest in the home of the wom an he Is alleged to have attacked. The attack was supposed to have occurred after the alleged victim's husband was called out in the night to go to . work. As soon as he was booked at the county Jail. Richardson, who claims he has been "framed," re tained the legal firm' of McKay and Fanner of Bend to represent him. He refused to make a state ment to the district attorney. . . Garden Clubs, will present two lectures and demonstrations, at 10:30 and 1:30, in the Altamont gym. Lunch will be served at Juan s Kitchen at the fairgrounds. Guests are asked to bring their own table service, including cup, plate and silver. There will be booths at which candy, cookies, fruit cakes, cor sages and materials for making Christmas decorations will be sold. Child care will be provided, and mothers are asked to bruig a sack lunch for their children. The public Is welcome to at tend both demonstrations at a cost of 50 cents per session. Scout Tree Sale Starts Saturday LAKEVIEW Scouts of Explor er Post No. 115 and Troop No. 15 open their annual Christmas tree sale on Saturday, December 10 at the Adams and Fossum Lumber Yard. Special orders will be taken for taller than average trees. As a community service, the Scouts willicollect discarded Christ mas trees after New Years Day for a special tree burning at the city dump. Shooting Fray Jails Worker A 84-year-old .steel worker was held In the county Jail Thursday on a cnarge of assault with a dangerous- weapon following a shoot ing affray at 1713 Fargo Street. Two other persons are held as material witnesses. . The victim of the shooting Tues day night, Luther Carey, 41-year-old unemployed construction work er, is in Klamath Valley Hospital with a bullet wound in his chest. Robert Christcnsen was charged with the shooting in a complaint filed by District Attorney Rich ard Beesley. Christensen was glv- Auto Slides On Scott Hill LANGELL VALLEY Slippery road conditions were blamed for an accident shortly after 6:45 a.m. today on Scott Hill. Katherine Dearborn, who works for Lorenz Company in Klamath Falls, left home as usual to drive to Bonanza where she usually rides into Klamath Falls with Reg Thom as. When she did not arrive, Mrs. Thomas phoned the girl's parents. Her' father found her walking to ward home about three-quarters of a mile from the spot where her car had gone out of control and overturned, badly damaging the automobile.
