Miller Company, Seventh and Klamath Avenue on Thursday, November 3. Shown here is the new budget-priced Oldsmobile 38 Holiday coupe. The attractive airfoil grille has horizontal louvers recessed in the oval bumper opening and the Oldsmo bile name is spelled out in chrome block letters on the left side. New rectangular parking lights are incorporated in the outer end of the lower bumper bar. Flair-away fenders, projectile-type taillights, hood contour and front and rear orna - ments are new. More than 150 color combinations are offered. Under the hood is a more powerful 230 horsepower "Rocket" engine with many improvements that enhance performance and economy. 7956 Oldsmobiles Offered By Dick B. Senator Lehman Confident Of Federal Disaster Bill WASHINGTON AH Sen. Leh-I man D-NY expressed confidence today that seme kind of federal disaster insurance bill will be ready for Congress next year. Lehman criticized administra tion ofiicials, however, for what he said was their "failure" to make specific recommendations at this time on such a program. The hearing continues today with Sen. The 1956 Oldsmobiles go on dis play Thursday, November 3, at the Dick B. Miller Co.. Seventh and Klamath Avenue. Especially eye-catching is the new Oldsmobile front end, with an airfoil type grille patterned after the experimental Starfire and Del ta and recessed in an oval be tween the massive upper and low er bumper bars. Rectangular park ing lights are incorporated In the outer extremities of the lower bumper bar and are protected by the overhang of the upper bar. Small chrome block letters which spell out the Oldsmobile name add an interesting motif to this dis tinctive front end. The popular low silhouette and panoramic windshield are retained being enhanced with new fender, hood and bumper designs. New flair-away fenders are an advanced version of the sweep-cut fenders Introduced by Oldsmobile on, ear lier Holiday models. They are now standard throughout the 1956 Olds mobile on all series both front and rear. The restyled projectile tpe taillights and the upward aweeo of the rear bumper con tour above the recess for the li cense- plate lend a fresh and dis tinct note to Oldsmobile's rear end styling. , . .. Dr. Robert A. Wood, treasurer of the Klamath County Democratic Central Committee, said a large crowd of Southern Oregon and Northern California Democrats are expected at the dinner. Senator Humphrey will be pre sented by Oregon Senator Wayne Morse. Nineteen standard colors and 155 recommended two-tone com binations provide the greatest va riety in the division's 58-year his tory. Prom an engineering standpoint, horsepower Is raised to 240 in the "Rocket" T-350 engine which pow ers the '98' and Super '88' cars. The T-350 designation indicates 350 pound-feet of torque, or turn ing effort at the crankshaft, at an engine speed of 2,800 r.p.m. Compression ration is 9.25 to 1 in all 1956 "Rocket" engines. The 1956 Series "88 Rocket" has a larg er dual carburetor, and develops siu-n.p. Three series of cars In 13 body types are offered by Oldsmobile for 1956. There are four Fisher body types in the luxurious "98" series four-door Holiday sedan. Holiday coupe, four-door sedan- and Starfire convertible. The high per formance super '88' series pre sents the Holiday sedan, Holiday coupe, two-door sedan, convertible coupe and four-door sedan. In the budget-priced "88" series are the Holiday sedan, two-door sedan, four-door sedan and Holiday coupe. Jetaway Hydra Matic Drive, which is making its bow in 1956 Oldsmobile, will be standard equip ment on the Super "88" and "98" series. Hydra-Matic Super Drive is optional at cx(ra cost on the "88" series. The -Jetaway Hydra Matic introduced a new second fluid coupling in. the drive train that blends the changes in the gear ratios into a single contin uous flow of power. Shifts are smoother than ever before attained in an automatic transmission and are barely perceptible. As an add ed convenience, a parking lock operated with the shift lever is incorporated In the transmission. Safety is a continuing consider ation with Oldsmobile and has been since electric headlamps and the self-starter first were installed. It is the constant aim of Olds mobile engineers to design safety features into the car. Among these have been the all-steel body, four wheel brakes, safety glass and the panoramic windsheild for better vision.
