Way, president of the Portland Central Council and business manager of Local 72, Boilermakers and Blacksmiths, made a thorough inspection of the school after a lecture there recently. He also addressed . meeting of the entire student body. AAUW Plans April Meet The American Association of Uni versity Women have planned a pro gram lor April 17 at the Wlllard Hotel, around the visit ol two lore lea exchange students from the Uni versity of Oregon, Gertrude Wirgler of Austria and Walter Wlese, from Germany. Mrs. E. O. Hlskman, chairman of the International Re lations group Is arranging the pro gram. - Hie luncheon meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. A. B. Halverson will report en the senior tea. May 8 which will be held at the home of Mrs. Eugene Favell. Decorations will be under the di rection of Mrs. George Chin, chair man, assisted by Patl O'Connor and Mrs. Pat Coulson. Homer Angell (R-Ore) to In crease by 15 million dollars the authorization tor the Columbia River Basin project was approved by the House Monday and sent to the Senate. The money would be used to keep construction of The Dalles Dam and reservoir on schedule, Angell said. The bill would increase the proj ect authorization from the present ISO million dollars to 166 million. Nesmirh Ankeny Death Learned WALLA WALLA, Wash. Wl Nesmitn Ankeny, 75, pioneer Pa cific Northwest cattleman, banker and historian, died here Monday night after a brief illness. A resident of Walla Walla since 1918. Ankeny was the last mem. ber of the family of the late Sen. and Mrs. Levi Ankeny of Walla Walla. He was in the cattle business near Washtucna, Wash., In the early 1000s and later was assist. ant cashier of the First National Bank at Pendleton, Ore. Nclda Hale and Carol Lou Weatherby, seniors at Bonanza High School and representing South Central Oregon, met 6t. Joseph. Academy of Pendleton. winners of Eastern Oregon debate aist.net in the semi-finals of de bate. This double round resulted in a split decision with one win for St. Joseph and one win for Bo- nanza. In the third debate held to break the tie, St. Joseph's Acad emy was Judged the winner. To date, St. Joseph's Academy, University High and Bonanza High have two wins each recorded on the debate traveling trophy.
