New Pine Creek By ISVIN FAR1S Life still goes on but for the time being It has lost some of Its buoyancy. Reason: one guess? We won't bo taking a trio to Eugene when the Honkers go to state for the simple reason they won't be a-goin'. But, nevertheless, we're sure proud of our boys! The showing . they made against the winning Madras team was very creditable for that clean-playing, highly Inspired quintet of White Buffaloes, seemed unbeat able. It was Mudras's first con ference title win in 34 years last Saturday at Prlneville and it was so decisive and so expertly won that no one begrudged them their victory. But each of the four teams par ticipating: Madras, Burns, Red mond and Lakeview, vying for this district title, all apparently had the same pre-conference feel ing before the filial play-off that since all teams were so even according1 to the season's record, it was entirely human, feasible and logical for. Uiem to think its group might be the lucky ones to get the breaks and capture that el luslve title. Madras got no breaks they won! Now we. shall relax a bit until track season starts then we'll be out with the boys again upon that ever stimulating field of individual competitive sport.- George Mnlson, of the Matson Navigation Co., who lives In San Francisco, itarried a few hours here last Friday and Saturday lo Visit with his nephew and name sake, George Matson. He was en route to the Shriner's Convention In Medford, for which he left Sat urday afternoon. Vrhence - he went to Portland on business and re turned here Tuesday. He has Just recently relumed from Manila looking after business interests. A very pleasant social hour or two followed the meeting where regular ballroom dancing and lolk dancing was enjoyed. Mrs. Clar ence Tracy and daughter, respec tively, provided music on the piano and : accordion while Mrs. Richard Buck beat the drums. These get togethers are just a lot of fun! Then in another .heat after a tasty potluck supper was served, Mrs. Laura Newton, on tne piano and Jim Ogle on the drums beat out some catchy old folk-dance tunes that put a long string of cou ples through some elegant steps and graceful whirls. They were pretty to watch and even though the cou ples wore beads of sweat on their foreheads;1 apparently they were having Just a heck-of-a-lotta fun. Mrs. Lj'dia Scarborough and chil dren, Joy and Henry, visited at Fall River Mills and McArthur over the weekend.
