RAINWATER ... 32 1 0 Cannon Street, celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary, February 24. They were married in Quitman, Texas, in 19 06; and are parents of eight children, one of whom, a daughter, Helen (Mrs. E. A. Ensorl lives here. The following committees were appointed for the coming year: card parties, Clara Ballantyne and Mary Flnton and Violet Phillips; baked food sales. Dells Hennlnger and Pat Vasak; entertainment, Nina Beck and Maybelle Wlllcy; visiting committee, Charlotte Can oy and Marie Kllgore; law, Bertha Griggs and Effle Redkey; mem bership, Mae Anderson and Stella Dryden; secret apeclal fund rais ing, Clara Ballantyne, Maybelle Wllley and Mary Robin. Refreshments were served after tho meeting by Mary Robin. Next regular meeting will be February 17, when there will be practice for initiation. February 19 at 6:30 p.m. Is the date set for a dinner and social evening at Jen-Ed's to be financed oy the social club. SOROPTIMIST Dr. John Waterman, psychia trist with the Oregon State Board of Health, was guest speaker at the luncheon meeting of the Sorop- timlst Club Thursday, at the wj. nema Hotel. He was introduced by. Mrs. Victor E. O Nelll, member ,of the Oregon State Board of Education. Dr. Waterman gave a review of the services being given to Klam. am County by Ule board of health the goals that have been set since organization of the Child Guid ance Clinic in Klamath Falls and the plans lor consideration of a lull-time social worker. March 4. was announced as the date for the book sale to be con ducted by the ciub and members are asked to take as many used books as possible to the meetings until that time. The annual banquet is planned for March 24. An Invitation was read from the Quota Club to attend the dinner. February 22 when the Quota Club will name the Woman of the Year. Several Soroptimists plan to attend. VISITS PARENTS MACDOEL Lloyd Naught re turned recently from attending the 51st wedding anniversary of his parents, . Mr. and Mrs. E. C Naught, at El Monte. The senior Naughts moved to Butte Valley in 1915 from Washins ton to live on the Sheep mountain ranch near Maedoel. They moved to the Rogue river valley of Oregon in 1923. back to Butte Valley in 1935, and to El Monte in 1946. Their son, Lloyd, has lived continuously in Butte Val ley since coming here with his parents in 1915. The senior Naughts have eight children of whom only one daugh ter was unable to attend the cele bration. The group spent one day sight seeing at Knott's berry farm at Buena Vista as a part of the cele bration. JULIANNE ECCLES expected home this weekend with her moth er is a week old today She was born February 6 in McMinnville General Hospital in McMinnville and her dad Julian E. flew up a couple of days ago to get them The new arrival who weighed 8 pounds last Saturday will be greeted at the Ecclcs borne on Con ger by her brothers Ralph-4 and Red 2. SHORT STOPOVER on way home from Palm Springs Joe and Lucille Gerber (Gerber Legendary Blades) visited local friends last Sunday before continuing home ward trek to home in Portland and their children Philip and Steph anie who had stayed home ac cttunta school. RUTH NEWTON whose mar riage is announced elsewhere in todays society section is a mem ber of an old pioneer family her mother the former Edith Short came to the Klamath country in a horse drawn wagon from Cali fornia and her (-parents raised the first dry land potatoes on Klam- atn Basin hillsides they were pioneer land owners In Tulelake and the late "Judge" Short was her uncle incidentally she's Bob Short's cousin who was with the H : N before leaving for Eugene she was supervisor of the South ern Oregon branch office of the Boys and Girls Aid Society of Oregon in Medford now to be at headquarters In Portland.
